Would North entertain a pre agent trade rather than taking the risk of dealing with a team next year uncertain of where they (both North and the team LDU may head to) finish for compo/trade purposes.

Midfielders aren't really short on at North but LDU is the main man there so it would be a hole to fill.

In saying this it does seem a bit of a non story as well and taking shots at a team that is struggling enough without questioning loyalty of players a year out from FA.

They would be crazy to trade him at the end of the year. Their lack of experience is hurting them and he's a walk up best 22 player for them. Trading him out would just prevent them improving. They have enough young talent on their list that trading out a player like LDU would just end up being a net loss now if they don't find someone as equally good.

What would a team realistically trade for LDU. Pick 10ish maybe. North are not finishing that high next year. Zero benefit to them for trading him early. Free agent to the Pies seems a lock already 18 months out.

No decent 25 year old is leaving a strong club to go to North. Fringe players at best are all they can get, so it would just be draft picks again.

Is a good player but has some limitations. Very good chance they get pick 2 for him next year as will be tier 1. At absolute best next year they finish 13th and get pick 7.

Unfortunately if he goes to a good club you'll quickly realise he's actually just been stuck in a complete basket case with incompetent teammates.

Same thing happened when GCS traded their players to Richmond, Melbourne etc.

North are a talent sapping black hole for players, same case as Carlton not too long ago so I feel quite qualified to speak on the matter.

If a club like St Kilda want him as has been rumored, surely they have to try and go this year for him to get in before Collingwood.

I don't think Lobb is the culture guy they need but surely fits their needs on field wise in the forward line. Larkey needs another tall who can mark there with him. Don't think dogs would dig their heels in to keep if he's still in contract at years end

Was copping a lot of flack from North supporters last year who were happy to see him go but he has looked a ton better playing for a merely average side instead of a total basket case.

To me he has showed glimpses of being a superstar player but has than looked very poor as well at times, I would say he is below where most would have expected him at 25.

He would not be the type of player you would want to overpay for.
