like that has anything to do with what was just said, but thanks for your concern, we got Hodge and sam Mitchell for mcphalap and Croad, and then got Croad back for less than what we put up in the first place.

and the flag is a lot closer to us compared to Carlton.

See Nigel Lappin 2003.
Great midfielder, named HBF. Will happen to Hodge no doubt, purely because he spends a portion of his time in the backline like Lappin did. Cousins, Riccuito, Dal Santo etc. will get the midfield roles because they play there almost 100% of the time.

This makes plenty of sense.

The selectors usually try and fit in as many midfielders as possible, whether on HB, HF or interchange. Hodge may well be worthy of AA centreman but will make way for full-time midfielder.

get over it...he'll lineup on a HBF in the AA...how you people live on this "stat obsession"...yes, he gets a bit of it in the middle...but idiots like hay who kick 20m backwards to him in the back pocket (overall hawthorn style) and just roaming free in the backline blows up his stats like that...clean knees after every game...gimme ball or judd...

clean knees- Luke Hodge

let's see,

clean knees- Luke Hodge

Yes, Dixon best performance this year gets you over the line against an undermanned Bombers side and the Hawks are on the way up.
As funny as Hird's comment Essendon will win the flag next year!

argh, both our sides were undermanned, dont make an excuse for them, we gave your side a touch up also undermanned and you guys were at full strength. :)

hodge is a gun, and will be right up there for all australian centre this year. stating hawthorn's game style does not mean hodge has been anything short of outstanding in the middle this year. end of story, i get sick of using our gamestyle or the fact he occasionally rests in the back half (like all midfielders) as a reason for him having a good season.

I did say he would be named AA HBF FFS

I think you will find most posters will agree

You have to admit that the Hawks as a midfield at times get an insane amount of the ball but yet have lost badly.

The Doggies did the same last year but have changed there style as the Hawks will hopefully do by being more direct in the future

Cousins plays that position in the best side and is Brownlow favourite by a long way he should get that position.

For my 5,000 post, id like to aknowledge Choota on a great thread, and say that:

Luke Hodge AA 2005
Mark Williams AA 2005
Hawthorn def. Essendon 2005
Franklin, Roughy and Lewis - Best performed picks 2005
Darren Glass and Ashely Sampi - 2 biggest hacks in the AFL
Bentleigh and weagles_fan are both tools
And.....Hodge Brownlow 2005

Agreed on all 7 points.

And Congrats Nightwolf. :)

Yeah the kid can play, but they will probably sit him on the back flank so they can do the usual thing of putting as many on ball players around the ground as possible...

I will try very hard to get over your incisive, insightful and thought-provoking response to my post, but it might take me the better part of a day. Being horsewhipped so roundly is a bitter pill for me to swallow. I had forgotten how important Jon Hay's contibution is to Hodge's disposal count.

But I really must take you up on your complaint about Hodge's clean knees, and explain the mitigating circumstances. The problem is, he is handicapped by his ability to read the play, he just seems to know where the ball is going to go before most of his opponents can twig to it. I wish that wasn't the case, because then it would give him more opportunity to get into the scrimmages and get his knees dirtier. Admittedly, it might make it tougher for him to deliver the ball with precision, but who needs that when you're trying to develop a forward line from scratch?

Thanks for helping me see the light. Hodge< any player with dirty knees.
