Luke Livingston delisted

Delisting McGrath before Chambers and a few others is the first real mistake we have made since the season ended. Very disappointing :(

Batson should not have been delisted, and Smith is unlucky.

But it is about time that Livo was delisted. Cya Livo.
Why does it matter what order they do it in? As long as Chambers gets delisted before we lodge our final list who cares.

Batson couldn't even get in the best players of the VFL reserves so he probably hasnt warranted being retained. If the club cant see him as a future ruckman for us, then bad luck and goodbye.

No complaints from me! None of the blokes who have been delisted to-date are of the calibre required in order to resurrect our on-field fortunes.

No doubt there are still some equal/lesser players on our list, but they are on borrowed time I'd say...

Very disappointed McGrath got the boot. Bannister should count himself VERY lucky.

Why would Bannister count himself lucky. If the selection panel had been serious he would've played all year. Tall, athletic and dominates every week for the Bullants. Made a couple of bad mistakes against the pies but was never given a chance in 06 to cement a spot in the team. McGrath, although a good solid tryer for the club is slower, shorter and less skillful than Bannister so i would think the club got it exactly right.

Disappointing to see Batson get the boot but after two years on the rookie list he just isnt good enough to be elevated.

Still stunned that Livingston and McGrath got the chop while Davies, Chambers and Bannister all seemingly survive. Having said that, I think the club will surely delist either one or two more players, from that list.

They're the 3 I would have chopped before Mcgrath. Livingston was a certainty though.

In any case, at least one and probably two more listeds will have to go and I'd be amazed if they dont come from the 3 above.

That's his problem. He is VFL standard only. I've rarely seen a bloke look more lost on an AFL field than Bannister. Classic case of trying to turn an athlete into a footballer. Gets the pill, then paralysed by indecision and panic.

Should have been the first or second chopped.

I was trying to say that McGrath is unlucky, as he probably shouldn't have been delisted. Others should have definitely gone before him. The likes of Chambers, Davies definitely, and maybe a few others should have been delisted first, which may have saved Cory. Granted, Macca wasn't great, but he was servicable and did a job. Should have been offered another contract.

Batson got in the Bullants reserves best and leading goalscorers regularly. He should not have been delisted.

He was out of contract and is not part of our future, simply isn't any point hanging onto him, hopefully Chambers gets the chop too. Thanks to Mcgrath for the service he has give us over the last few years but we have to start looking forward and prepare for the future, we're better off picking up a young guy and developing him than having someone like Mcgrath taking up spots on the list.

Batson simply isn't up to AFL standard, if he was then they would have kept him. Same with Smith.

I think we will cut two more players and the later picks will come down because the top sides will only have the bare minimum of picks. If we're smart we'll grab a late pick in the draft or even grab two rookies in the PSD in the absence of any decent uncontracted players.

Are the bottom age kids eligible for the PSD if they weren't drafted in November?

Davies and Bryan have talent...one more year to prove they have the desire maybe? With the delistees so far, its pretty safe to say the potential upside was quite limited...although McGrath was VERY unlucky I couldn't see him getting much better. Teague and Chambers I think we can safely say we have seen the best of them, so I would keep Davies and Bryan ahead of them. With genuine talent coming through maybe the thinking is that we have can drop a few honest battlers for a few speculatives with big upside...otherwise I can't see the logic of letting McGrath go ahead of some of the others.

Livo's delisting officially determines the 2000 draft as a washout with 2 of the 3 top 15 picks gone.

I feel sorry for McGrath, he was going to be a fringe depth player but is more deserving than a couple of others yet to go. Was also made part of the leadership group last year so his fall is alarming.

Davies and Chambers have to go and should have been the first to go IMO. I hope Ratten hasn't saved Davies.

Who knows, Ratten may provide the inspiration and motivation for Davies to make it as a league footabller?!

Doubt it though

Let's face it, McGrath would have been delisted next year.

We are just getting rid of the "dead wood" and to be frank, I don't care which dud is delisted first or last.

Surely you would prefer a player that doesn't get a game to be delisted before a player that does?

Good question

Full credit to all the input and effort our delistees have put into the Carlton Footy Club during the time they have been here.

1. Ian Prendergast - Was a very handy player and I appreciate the effort and the commitment he had towards playing at the Carlton Footy Club. Hopefully he gets picked up by another club or a VFL club - preferably the Northern Bullants. And I will never forget that winning Super-Goal that you kicked in the Wizard Cup GF v the WCE in 2005. Good luck in the future Prenda!!!
2. Trent Sporn - Was a good player but has had a shocking run with injury during his career at Carlton. I thought he may have had one more year but it wasn't to be. I doubt it if he would get picked up by another AFL club but then again he may be given a rookie spot or something. If not then hopefully he can be picked up by a VFL club - like Prenda, preferably the Northern Bullants. Good luck in the future Spornie!!!
3. Troy Longmuir - Was a decent enough player and could win a match off his own boot football wise but has really struggled with injury and form in recent seasons. He may get picked up by another club again, someone like a Geelong for instance, or he may get plucked from a VFL club or head back to Perth and play for a club in the WAFL. Good luck in the future Troy!!
4. Luke Livingston - I think it was about time this bloke got chucked out the door. Has had his chances but just can't cut it at AFL level. Should get plucked out by a VFL club, he isn't a bad VFL player. Maybe he might go to the Borough or Coburg or maybe the Bullants. Good luck in the future Livo!!!
5. Cory McGrath - I consider him as a very good and handy player. He was very unlucky to be given the chop but thats footy. Unfortunate but we all move on. He may get another chance at another club, might get picked up by North or Melbourne for instance, or maybe he'll get plucked from a VFL club - hopefully the Bullants. Good enough player to succeed. Thanks for your service Macca, you've been good for us. Good luck in the future Macca!!
6. Jesse Smith - Thought that he was a bit unlucky to be given the chop but at the end of the day he probably just wasn't good enough. Good VFL player so he may get picked up by a VFL club - hopefully the Bullants. Thanks for your service and efforts Smithy!!
7. Daniel Batson - I thought that he should've been elevated to the senior list but then again he may be re-drafted as a rookie again. If not, well, he may be plucked out by a VFL club - hopefully the Bullants. Thanks for your service and efforts Batto!!!

Personally, I think there will be at least another 2 delistings.

Others who may be delisted:

- Jordan Bannister
- David Teague
- Callum Chambers
- Justin Davies
- Jason Saddington
- Ryan Houlihan

As far as I am concerned I would have delisted Bannister before McGrath for one main reason: attitude. McGrath set an example to the young bloke with his work ethic- Bannister just doesnt do that. Sure, bannister might have offered a smidge more on field, but seeing as both were likely to go by the end of next year anyway, there would have been more benefit to McGrath staying than Bannister.

id add teague to the lucky list
and davies is alright
looking at the list i say those who still need to go are Chambers, Saddington, Teague.
I rate bannister and think he is an average ball winner and an excellent negater.
So the delistees for me are:
Prenda
Sporn
Mcgrath
Livo
Saddington
Teague
Longmuir
Chambers
thats 8 which is a nice clean out

go blues

I know Livo never did much, but I would have liked to give him one more year...

something just tells me he's a bit of a late bloomer and 2007 could of been his year, and he offers better value than Teague and a few others.

Good luck Livo, I predict you'll be picked up by Hawthorn or Essendon.
Yeah definitely agree. We may be glad he is gone, but I think most Carlton supporters would like to see the guy given another chance in the PSD.

My question is why can't we just delist all our players in one go like every other club? It would avoid all sorts of pointless arguments like "I can't believe we delisted Mcgrath a week earlier than Chambers"

Some of them might still be holidays

i feel like such a dog atm, as a blue supporter i dont know wheather i want him to fail at his new club if he gets picked up or succeed. His a good bloke, met him once and id love to see him do well, but then itd just screw us. And if he failed itd be good for us but **** for him.

Lets just say good luck, but dont do too well
