Roast Luke Meehan Departs Richmond

Should Richmond look for a big bucks, top tier replacement for Luke "The Punt Rd Slasher" Meehan?

  • Yes. Club needs to be ruthless and "Pay the Price!".

  • No. We should back in Meehan and gamble our aging stars bodies, potentially sacrificing 2024.

  • No. replace with another el cheapo McGee with their online $29 P.T cert IV and cross our fingers.

  • Undecided.

CROWS EXPECT TO RETAIN FITNESS GURU

ADELAIDE is expecting to retain high-performance boss Darren Burgess for 2025, amid strong interest in Victoria.

The highly rated fitness guru has attracted enquiries from at least three Victorian clubs, including Carlton and Richmond, but is contracted at West Lakes for next season.

The Crows have been planning for the off-season and pre-season with Burgess and have received no indication that he will depart the club.

Carlton has been on the hunt for a new high-performance boss following the departure of Andrew Russell, but has appointed Rob Inness from Sydney.

Geelong is also in the market, with physical performance manager Scott Murphy departing at the end of the season for a role at Rugby Australia.

Sydney will now be another in the hunt for a fitness boss in the pre-season.

Burgess is one of the leading high-performance managers in the country, starting at Sydney in the late 90s before stints at Port Adelaide, Football Federation Australia, Liverpool, Arsenal and Melbourne, before returning to South Australia to be closer to his children at the end of 2021. – Josh Gabelich

told you he wants to live in adelaide

He may stay in Adelaide, but that article did not have a quote from the man saying he is actually staying. I heard his wife wants to move back to Melbourne and so until there's a definitive NO from him, we are still very much in the game.
his wife is from adelaide and his kids live there

hopefully they get divorced

So Michaels is Grockadoc saying we wanted Inness and Blues beat us to him or that Blues wanted Burgess, but have had to settle for Inness because we're getting Burgess?
I was under the impression we were both after Burgess but I definitely don't want to sell Inness short here as he is very good in his own right obviously.

Still confident we will land Burgess?
Grocks source seemed confident yesterday. Same source who told him of the Carracella being locked in news before it broke as well, so is usually pretty good with this stuff.

reading some of the articles above though the Crows could possibly play the holding him to contract card by the look of it.

all though I'm not sure contracts mean much as we have seen in recent times!

Yze wanting Burgess makes a lot of sense. He would have seen first hand the impact he had at the Dees and his contribution to their 2021 flag.

I just hope Burgess hasn't told both clubs no or been held by Adelaide and we're left looking for someone else.

update on this front, Crows making a last ditch effort to keep him with a revised offer to make him reconsider.

Grocks source still thinks he is likely to sign with us but isn't as strong as it was over the weekend.

Even if Burgess stays, we're still in a better position than Sydney .. not sure how far along Geelong are and who they are looking at. Will be interesting to see how Geelong go wihtout Murphy as he has been with them for 10 years keeping all their old blokes going.
