The fallout from this is going to be very interesting - I can't recall a club president (or equivalent in other sporting leagues) trying out this excuse, it's generally just an idiot player and everyone laughs and goes "yeah righto, whatever mate."
But with a club president, surely no-one believes his explanation. So it ought to be interesting to see the reaction from his family, Bupa, other club sponsors and Carlton people generally (a quick look at their board suggests practically none of them believe his story).
Also interesting if someone from the social media platforms comes out when something like this comes up and says "you know what? We're sick of taking the blame for you absolute idiots. You weren't hacked: either you posted it, or someone with access to your phone or computer did. And if you keep blaming hackers - and by extension our security - we'll see you in court."

I'm no Twitter expert, but I thought the 7 report said she hadn't been active on the platform since 2017 or something? I assume that means she hadn't made any posts.
So, again, just an assumption, but for him to contact her via her username, when she's essentially an 'inactive user' would indicate to me that they've used the platform to message each other previously (for whatever reason) and that she uses X to send messages, but not to post anything publicly. Please correct me if I'm wrong?
