This is the kind of thing a CEO or president could get away with 10 years ago, but the landscape has changed and I'm just not convinced it can be swept under the carpet and go away now.

Unfortunately for Sayers, his version of events is so unbelievable that he will need to provide some sort of evidence to win the court of public opinion. (which is the only one that really matters as it is not a legal issue).

When you look at what Craig Kelly just strolled through, as if it didn’t happen, it makes you wonder though.

Kelly is a good bloke though.
Tough hard premiership player, former leading player agent, former agent and mates of many in the media and well just a bit of a larrikin, never meant any harm.
Accused of joking about putting a live possum in a room for indigenous players, calling an Indigenous leader "a dumb old bitch", joking about sending a 'Free Palestine' photo to a Jewish colleague after the Hamas attack.
See all harmless jokes, just a bit of office banter.
Claim was settled so that Craigo wasn't put through the tedium of a court case.

Sayers well he's a corporate dickhead (literally), not mates with anyone, missus pisses off to Italy for nine months of the year.

Deserves everything he gets,no comparison to Ned whatsoever. :confusedv1:

I’d say the exact opposite, 20 years ago he would have been gone for all money, but nowadays in the era of Trump and Co. (too many of our politicians to mention) it’s just “play on”.

There has been zero accountability for what went on at PWC, instead he just sold out and started his own Consulting Firm and it’s as you were. He’s doing the same here with minimal damage to anything. Quite amazing really.

Congrats on bringing trump into an issue about an expose on an Australians penis.

When did anyone last hear about QANTAS and particularly their former CEO?

Limited appetite to confront corruption (that is what it is when a company is offering benefits to politicians who take them up) in this country.

None of this is Trump related.

I think unlikely. That would feel like an admission.

Likely a standoff behind the scenes and this dragging out.

The longer he stays the better it is for the rest of the comp. No team implodes better than the blue baggers

Steve Smith being allowed to captain Australia after the disgrace of sandpapergate proves there is no accountability in Australian society anymore. Is that Australian enough for you cocko?
Smith was suspended by CA substantially beyond the penalty handed down by the match referee.

This was also a sportsman. Not corporate or politics.

So no, this is not a good example at all.

The suspension was very harsh but in no way should Steve Smith ever been permitted to captain Australia. Those two things are entirely separate from each other. If he got a one match ban he should never have captained Australia ever again.

How anyone who failed so badly be granted the honour of captaining Australia again is a disgrace.

You are either blind to the connection or accept that sort of behaviour. To me it's why the world is going to pot.

Going down an off topic rabbit hole here but there are stark differences between Sayers and Smith.

Smith:
  • Has showed genuine remorse and accepted his (incredibly harsh) punishment.
  • Has displayed changed behaviour and growth since his transgression.

Sayers:
- Is not accepting any accountability/offering a (IMO) pretty ridiculous alternate explanation

- Is continuing to show the same lack of accountability that he has displayed in his professional life (see PwC)

I think Smith has earned the right to a second chance. Sayers has only seen fit to label himself a victim, leaving it to others to clean up the mess.

You say the penalty was very harsh but think it should be even harsher with a captaincy ban?

This is not why the “world is going to pot.”

My point is accountability has gone out the window. The captain of Australia is one of the highest honours a person can receive. I never argued about Smith playing and your points about his remorse are accurate. But him being permitted to captain again is a disgrace.

I reckon Sayers will ride this out and all that equals...you guessed it...no accountability.

Eh I guess I just disagree.

I feel like Smith was held accountable. The best we’re gonna get out of Sayers is a “I’m standing down to focus my efforts on finding justice and helping my family heal” BS type statement.

I’m much more willing to give a second chance in one of these scenarios than the other

Btw further off topic- I see the Sri Lanka series as a bit of a free hit, and I’d rather them not annoint Cummins’ replacement only for him to come straight back and play another 4-5 years as skipper. It’s a nice way to send off Smith and close the book on him as a leader

After a "thorough" investigation, the AFL have concluded that Luke Sayers account was accessed by someone else whom posted the picture. Hmmm, did we expect any other outcome?
Cyber security experts: It's highly unlikely the President would've had control of his account to delete it minutes after deleting the original tweet.

The AFL: Nah lol
