LVFL - 2011 PRE Season

I would just like to put it out there that we are going to be the big improvers of the season. We have some very handy recruited on board. Including the return of the magical Miggy.

YCW are going to fall well off the pace and should be embarrassed with themselves for letting Walshy continue on after the performance he put on when they were bundled out of the finals. Shows where the club it at.

Money is gone out at Pyramid,

Still worried about Bridgy, although they have had some exits they will still be in the mix

Newbridge have recruited well so we will see.

Inglewood to finish a very distant last

I think that the above is a very accurate assement of the comp in 2012, especially in relation to YC. Still - it will be interesting to see whether the umpires give them anything this year, especially if they make Finals and Mr Walsh is back at the helm.

Bridgy will drop down but still play finals

Serp to take Pyramid's spot in the 5 in 2012.

Marong just outside the 5

Newbridge improving but still missing

Calivil to be their normal selves and make it again.

Miti - will make the 5 but not much further.

Looking forward to it starting.

Not sure why you blokes believe that YCW will drop away as they have added some quite classy players to a line up that was 2 points away from last years GF. I don't know a lot about the comp but with the departures from Bridgey and Pyramid that have been mentioned on here I would have thought that YCW would be as big a chance as anyone to take it out this year

I do not think that they will get any 50/50 decisions from the umpires and we all know that for a club to get deep into Finals you need a bit of luck. The players will be receiving mixed messages to a degree. Mr walsh at training and the caretaker on Game day - not sure whether that will help the situation, and i am not so sure that their committee is as stable as it needs to be to succeed.

You are right with the committee there. Some good blokes but the rubbish let them down and its happened for years. They have a couple of people there that have no idea and are quick to point the finger for their own mistakes. As for the football, I agree with Roota, i think YCW will finish top 2 with Bridgewater by the sounds of the recruits

nice one clew on the bendigo fl thread that was about the macca medal in the bfl magoos u would have taken it out in about 2005 or 2006 if i'm not mistaken
maybe a joint win back then, 2

Dunno how true but I got told they only kept 1 executive member and still have 2 spots to fill on the executive and the rest of the general committee is pretty much new blood. Will definitely be interesting to see if off field effects the on field performance this season.

My prediction:

YC (Premiers)
Bridgewater (R/Up)
P. Hill
Serp
Miti

You have to be kidding, with the starting on ball division of Greene rucking with Roo Walker, Plugger, and Wilmont, and Walshy calling the shots from High street you are a long way off.
Go Serp

McMurtrie has signed on again for the Maroons. Things a building very nicely out Riverside

Trust u'll be vying for that Full Back position Catter, holding up the fortress?? :thumbsu::thumbsu:

YC seem to be the leaders in the recruiting side of things by all reports and not holding back with offering the Pat Cash? As has been mentioned previously, they only missed out on a GF berth last year by a small margin, therefore should give it a tilt and would have to be near favourites at this point in time.
Bridgey and Pyramid still cant be ridden off, with the Mean Machine giving the 3peat a tilt.
We had good numbers on the track again last nite with a couple more new faces so hopefully things are on the up and can push the lower end of the top 5
Calavil also training in the same proximity with no more than 13 players on track, and by the looks of it copped a bit of a pastin running!

Bridgewater have won the last two grand finals by 100 points, they have lost a few big name players but from all reports have replaced them with local kids who have come back after Auld left.

How anyone can want to be on YCW because they lost a prelim by 2 points is beyond me, they've lost a few from their prelim final side as well, they'd be doing well to finish third again. Who have they actually recruited? Hawkins, McRae and Thompson? going to need more than that

Serp have to be the improvers from last year, well coached, enough top end talent and they've recruited to give themselves a bit more depth. If they find another 3 players that are unknown in Bendigo / LVFL football and can play, well they'd be the ones.

Wait until you see big Thomo fit then decide. He will smash/dominate the LVFL............ He is better than the bloke that won your league medal last year and i say this with no doubt at all:thumbsu:

Hawkins and Thompson will both be amongst the best 10 to 15 players in the competition.

I am not on them soley because they lost the preelim by 2 points. My reason is that I think they will improve whilst the 2 grand finalist will come back to the field a bit

That is possibly a big if, spent 2010 at Wedderburn and when fit was a bloody good player, however missed a fair bit of footy and i beleive didnt see much time on the ground last season with Heathcote. Wish him all the best fitness wise as he can play.Possibly one of the best kicks of the footy going around.

Top 5 may be bit over the top cheese. I'm with you morgodogga, it's a big if, he only play half a dozen games last year most of which were in the reserves.

What's news on the miti front? most people tipping them top 5 again, but haven't heard of any new recruits. I thought they might slip down a bit this year.

Miti are always there abouts. Played finals 9 of the past 10 years. Recruits so far are
Nathan Fitzgerald - Eaglehawk/Hopetoun - mid
Luke Milroy - Eaglehawk/Hopetoun - mid
Ricky Welsh - Eaglehawk - HB
Jared Webster Eaglehawk CHF/HF
locky Brennan - Castlemaine - HB/mid
young kid from Lockington. If anything like Hayden Chapel who won the LVFL rising star last year will slip into the side nicely.

Only notable loss from last year is Luke Mitchell.

If you ask anybody from the club they will say the lack of a midfield was the issue last year. I think everybody would agree that if they get quick ball delivered into there forwards they are the hardest team in the comp to match up on. The Elimination Final from last year would be a good example of that.

Iv had my stint at LVFL and still watch a fair bit of it and know whats going on so i still stand by my statement (if fit) he will easily be in the top 5 LVFL at medal time:thumbsu:

Seen in the paper the recruits for the Mitti boys, looks like they are planning to have a bit of a go this year…. Just a question, any of them any good??? Look like a bunch of ex cons, Eaglehawk rejects and Benji Veniamin wanna be’s.

if this was Facebook..i'd click "LIKE".

Trainer Burger bringing some "old mates".

Pyramid Hill have picked up a few boys from Melbourne town who should do alright. They only played D2 vafa last year but one has played a grade. At least 2 maybe 3. Although the 3rd bloke can play he will get over the drive pretty quickly and won't like getting back to Melb so late that he has to line up to get into the Precinct.

Guru Out!

MACORNA FOOTBALL NETBALL CLUB, FROM THE GOLDEN RIVERS FOOTBALL LEAUGE IS LOOKING FOR A PRACTICE MATCH ON THE 17th MARCH AT MACORNA. IT IS A 1 HOUR DRIVE TOWARDS KERANG FROM BENDIGO.

IF ANYONE IS KEEN 0409007091

There are a couple of good ones in there. Considering they knocked Serp off twice last year would say you still have some catching up to do.

Will be interesting to see the cards out on the table now clearances can be lodged.
