Lynch seeks glove exemption

The other reason I think that most players thinking that there isn't any advantage (unfair or not) is important is this:

Its self regulating.

Why interfere when the issue is regulating itself? That's the height of self justification from a busy body meddling AFL that needs to fix things that aren't broken

Why withhold?

Its not usual or typical practice

I'll tell you why, because having commissioned it you needed to have something to show for it - and the results were open to wider interpretation.
It's not so much withholding, as they released all the information which they thought would actually be of interest to the media. They didn't want to bore them to death with details, that the journalists (and 99% of the general public) probably wouldn't understand or be interested in.

Don't produce quote marks around a phrase like 'significant higher'. It's not a quote that could have turned up in a serious study. In fact it's not a quote that would appear in a report of a study that can be taken seriously. It's a grammatic brain fart.

You might have a confidentiality clause at your workplace, whatever that might be, but secrecy around a glove study? Please. We'd hate for North Korea to learn about it wouldn't we? It's all top shelf stuff.
It's the wording used in the media release to describe the findings of the study. You're right, it's probably not actually used in the study itself. The study would no doubt talk about the friction levels in the relevant SI units (whatever they might be), but that's not much when writing a media release. Journos don't want the details, they want to know what the details mean - that some gloves provide a "significant advantage".

That is entirely a different point.. and one which may have some merit, unlike your attempts to discredit RMIT's study and it's findings, which are completely and utterly lacking in any merit whatsoever.

COLLINGWOOD forward Quinten Lynch has been thwarted in his attempt to wear his old, and recently banned, glove to help protect a finger problem.
Lynch has special exemption to use one of the banned gloves during the NAB Cup to help protect the damaged little finger on his right hand, an injury he sustained a few years ago and fears could lead to amputation if the injury reoccurs.
But he has been told he must plump for one of the four brands recently approved by the AFL in time for the season proper.

This decision also affects fellow Magpies forward Travis Cloke, who was also considering seeking special exemption for a finger injury.

A 15 page thread about a glove? This is up there with the one about Walker's hat.
I'm grunching but I'm kinda with the AFL on this in that why can't they just use one of the approved gloves?

Because they don't want to that's why, if all gloves were banned i would understand. Plain and simple they just want to use the gloves they have been using. I cannot see one glove offering more support than another.

For Cloke I don't see it harming his marking ability considering he has that type of ability in spades.

Yeah. That's b/c he was wearing a now banned sticky glove. ;)

Did I hear right on 7 that Lynch succeeded in getting his exemption and that Cloke can continue to wear his "illegal" glove until round 12 whereby he needs to swap to one of the approved gloves.

If that's the case, I've lost the little but of respect I still had for AFL admin. What a disgrace!! Introduce a rule for show only. Piss weak act if this is in fact the case. If not, I'll quietly back out of this room.
