In that video there's some reasons we got him.
1/ He can play on Hawkins and Daniher etc
2/ He knows how to guard the goal square.
3/ He can kick it 50
4/ He can take a mark

Tick from me.
5/ Plenty of practice kicking it to Howe.
6/ looks like he can take a hit or 2 and dish it out too. Him and Goldsack should form a solid back line.

Not too excited by this pick up on the back of 4 games in 2016 and being 29yo but he gives us coverage in an area in which we need some bolstering for a couple of years.

Is a booming kick, who is adept at taking kick ins, can play forward and will give us a lot more drive out of defence than Frost or Brown. I've said previously I'd hope (at 192cm) he could play a Maxwell type defensive role, play tall when match ups dictate otherwise he can be the third tall that comes in and kills contests.

The difference between 47 and 51 in points is 57 so we technically get a contracted player for pick 69 (and maybe Melb pay some of his salary). Not too bad really.

When you heard he was up for trade, how did you feel about it?

I won't answer for the Dees poster you quoted, but I rate Dunn and think he'll be a really good addition for your guys.

He played most of the year in the VFL because we wanted to pump games into Frost and Oscar McDonald as our KPDs (alongside Tom McDonald). Dunn kept his head up, dominated in the VFL, is hard as a cats' head and can kick the ball beautifully, and in my opinion has at least two good years left at AFL level.

In saying that, I understood his decision to seek a trade and wish him all the best.

I like the Dunn trade, this trade reminds me of the Lake trade to Hawthorn. He can play on talls or smalls, good mark and a beautiful kick. We can swing him up forward or use him as a tagger, so to me will definitely be of value to us. Good luck Lynden think you will be a great asset to our footy club.

Sorry to be a pain but I just had to reply - Dunn definitely can't play on smalls. In fact, he struggles with medium forwards too - he's basically a lock-down key defender, suited to blokes like Patton, Hawkins, Walker etc. He's bloody good at that, though.

Thats exactly what we need, but to me looks like he will be alot more mobile than Brown and will be able to hit a target from D50.

I actually don't mind this trade. Was shattered at losing Brown as I always felt we needed at least one 1-on-1 gorilla defender and Brown played an important role and was a great clubman. Dunn appears to be an upgrade though in terms of being just as capable playing on the Hawkins/Pattons/Hogans etc whilst being a much better kick and potential rebound outlet. The only thing is he's a couple of years older and perhaps slightly slower than Brown. Has a good 3+ years in him as gorilla full backs can generally play effectively till they're 33-34. Definitely see him as the starting full back over Keeffe. A backline spine of Reid, Dunn and Howe as the third tall actually looks pretty exciting with solid defensive capabilities as well as intercept marking and dangerous rebound ability.

Welcome Lynden.
You are a magpie now and that is good enough for me.
Wish you well :)

Im cringing inside at the thought of Lynden Dunn going 1 on 1 with buddy.

Gives me Rocca on Zac dawson vibes

If its body on body he'll cream Buddy. Dunn is bloody strong, watch his game against Hawkins in 2015 if you want proof.

He is damn slow and doesn't win a heap of the ball but I honestly believe he is a better player than Nathan Brown is right now, so he'll be a handy pickup.

I like the look of him. I have been a tad dubious for a couple of days but caught up with an old mate who is a Melbourne fan today - and the view put to me was that he was perhaps harshly treated at the Dees (though they need to get games into young backs) and that he is an A grade goer with the right sort of gung ho attitude..........and one who can kick the ball! (I am looking forward to not feeling like bursting into tears when Browny or Frosty do a 35 metre pass which hangs in the air for so long the opposition players could run off the interchange bench to make the spoil, or Marley trying that same 35 metre pass as though he needs to plough the field with the footy Indeed the footage of some of Dunn's torpies has my missus wondering if I have logged in to porntube). He seems a well spoken and common sense kind of dude with a trace of nutter in him (as you'd expect of Melbourne defenders over the last decade). The whole idea of him kicking long to Howe or WHE up ground almost has me giggling.
