Poholke's lack of a tank was his undoing. Couldn't run out of sight on a dark night.

In his U18 year, Poholke had the necessary tools for AFL ....his challenge was to elevate his game from a willing support midfielder to the teams star midfielder ....to becoming the main man in his own right

Poholkes problem was simply between the ears ....he could never get past being a supporting / role player

Frankly, he just didn't "hunt" the ball hard or often enough .....it wasn't fitness

Did you ever watch any of his SANFL midfield games?

Pretty obviously not too much by those comments.

The only one of those you mention on display was his decision making wasn't the best but even that improved considerably in 2019, as for the rest I can only assume you are using his limited AFL minutes as your reference point.

I think Myles' biggest problem was the "self belief" that he belonged at AFL level....that as well as never, ever was he given serious minutes in the midfield to see what he had.

the coaches are unfortunately like our politicians, they are in “3 year terms” mode... selfishly all for the here and now and quick sugar hits and no thought for long term goals

I would like to think Hamish is on a last chance. He has picked some good roughies but most of his top end picks are yet to deliver. Being wooden spooners 2 years after GF is a major reflection on poor list management.

Poholke was a slow decision maker at AFL level, it was evident nearly every game he played. Just another player who couldn't make the leap to the speed of the game in the AFL.

For a poor draft, we did ok to get Himmelberg now that he loooks like he might make it.

1 out of 4 with just 1 pick inside 40 and 2 inside 50 isn't too bad.

You also need a coach to play kids if we want them to show what they can do.

Which is interesting because not too long before that we were extremely overrepresented on the best 22 under 22.

For the most part our recruiters were largely the same, so I think responsibility for this has to fall on the coaches, both for the directions they gave the recruiters on what to target and on the development of players that came in.

The more I think about it, the more I accept that these delistings needed to be done, even gooch.

Our past problem has been not looking at players early enough to make calls on them.

If we keep gooch and play him, it holds up oconnor or gollant or mchenry or worrell or pick 1 and 9 from this year from playing.

We need to get a look at oconnor and mchenry especially, need to make calls on them by the end of next season really. Should get glimpses of gollant and worrell as well.

Even with the potential gooch had, there's a fair chance that oconnor, gollant, mchenry, worrell, pick 1 and 9 all go past him anyhow.
