I make a perfect Collingwood ruckman. I am too short, can’t jump and have poor tapwork. Some say I’m soft but I say I just like cuddly toys.

Backline: Optimax, FIGJAM, PieLebo87

Optimax the hard nut back pocket, no non sense what he gives up in skill (proof reading) he makes up in determination. FIGJAM no no sense, great football nous, tells it how he sees it and gets the job done. Pielebo87 great rebounding pocket player. Doesn't make a lot of huge outlandish statements but makes what he does say count.

Half Backline: Snag Brac, TRS(c), Pieeyed

Snag Brac who is learning the game but always willing to fly the flag and defend the boys.TRS who mixes his great footy nous and optmistic realism to give the board great and realistic drive. Pieeyed who's optmism and love for the guernsy is a great driving feature.

Centre: Bloben, Dave the Man, pipeline

Dave the man is the Shane O'Bree / Rhyce Shaw of Bigfooty, always gets first use, Offers some great drive but is prone to some real clangers. Bloben and pipeline very level headed outlooks and make their posts count

Half Forward: Well Left, Rrrooocccaaa, Mark T
Well left who is just building up his tank (posts) to go into the middle. RRRocca. Always puts his hand up with something creative or useful when it counts. Mark T defensive half foward.

Full Forward: Multiple nick name serial pest, 1970,Tess

1970 the star full foward combining oppertunism, creativity and great insight and an ability to think through the situation and get the score on the board. Unfortunately his good efforts are often sandwhich between the other two oppertunistic snipers

Ruck/Rovers: Didaka, Kirby, Smiddaz
Awesome mix of football brains, willingness to stand by what the think, love for the club and optimism

I like Godfreys team. :p

An explanation for my lack of posting on these boards recently is due to my serious lack of knowledge re drafts/draftees. I have NFI about any of it, don't judge my potential on these past few weeks. ;)

Backline: Whacker, Spartan Magpie, PieLebo87

Pretty risky backline we have here, full of loose cannons who give away alot of cheap free kicks and are undisciplined, however they really love the contest and at the end of the day rarely lose against their opposition.

To both GJ and shawthing, I love you!

Similiarly to my actual footballing career, I just could never break into the midfield from the backline because of my lack of commitment to putting in the time and effort.

Like my junior years, on here I would be more prolific and consistent if I posted each time I actually wanted to and had something to say which would be very accountable, but being lazy, I would never just click the post button and write whats on my mind.

I guess it has cost me a midfield spot :( but I am just as honoured to be mentioned in both sides, especially with so much talent that has also missed out. I'm thinking that after all this, we should chuck all the posters that missed out together, and make a reserves team and one week next year, we can analyse if the reserves do better than the seniors.

Finally, optimax, I like that short idea you mentioned, what did you have in mind exactly? Also, scottyD, you mentioned you've been looking for this thread, what was the reason?

This was my side from June 2008 (I think it was around that time)

Im pretty sure this has been done before but I thought I'd create some interaction with everyone else on here;

If you've made the team, then you must be a prolific poster who stands out. So well done!

FB - FuManchu, vinnie_vegas69,Tess
HB - The Majestic, Royal Sampler, mydarlingclementine
C - sirlothie, Snag Breac, Optimax
HF - Tarkyn_24, Zeke, Magnus the Magpie
FF - MagpieGirl_13, Murray, daics cousin
R - MarkT, Jabso, nick_savo

INT - didaka, Dazman, Dale Didak #134, bradrowe#32.

EMERG. - ScottyD, Ron, Bay Pie.

Backline: That is a remarkable defensive unit which would have to be unbeatable. 6 players which you would NOT want to try and out-do in any scuffle. Great back 6 in my opinion.

Midfield: A suprise to some that SB was named in the centre, but just like Marty Clarke, the upside of this poster is sky-high with the ability/talent and intelligence to lift the rest of the team to bigger levels. I have plenty of faith in the rest of that midfield to go all day and really push the team forward, as well as get back to defend. I HAD TO give MarkT the ruck role, with just his desire to improve that position enough to make him the best ruckman in the competition. This midfield is filled with both class and old fashion grunt.

Forwardline: A good mix of inexperience and maturity. The younger posters on this forward line have shown plenty of potential and are still learning their craft up forward before their potential move into the midfield... or fall of the rails and dropped. Its in their hands, and have beaten a few others into the team. The spine of Zeke and Murray provides plenty of experience and talent with plenty of both flair and tradition in those two. Great attacking unit.

Bench & Emergencies: To those 7. You could've slotted into a fair few positions on that field, and consider yourselves very unlucky. Eg. a few would be better midfielders then some of the forwards, but your craft isn't as a forward, which is why you've missed out, but taking nothing away from you guys. This bench shows that, just like Collingwood, the Magpie Board footy side as very good depth, with plenty of names in the reserves that haven't even been mentioned.

For those that haven't made the team, take it as no disrespect, as this was done at almost 1am, without really breaking down every member and thinking about it for 2-3 months. Its a spur of the moment sort of fun thing.

So for the rest of the posters, make a team of your own, and comment about the others on here.

Its your opportunity to say what you think of other posters and what you think are the styles of posts that others on here use in regards to the mighty Maggies.

At that time, I believed that was a very reasonable team, but I didn't put too much effort into it. I I re-posted that thread so that you ladies and gents don't forget the prolific members from back then. Names like Majestic, Magnus and mydarlingclementine who aren't as consistent as they used to be deserve to be mentioned again for their work back then. Also, who could forget nick_savo? I had him in my midfield, thats how decent he was on here. You can notice the transition too, with names like didaka, who was on the bench, now easily a starting 18 in my side.

Godfrey.....what a great honor to finally fulfill my boyhood dream to be named Full Forward for the Mighty Pies. Looking forward to some great service from RRROOOOCCCA.
I can retire now content as I have nothing more to achieve.:D

Except to play HBF for Shawthing09...thanks.

I am humbled.

hey i havent seen you in a while Mark

What did you think of the draft?
Happy enough with the CVs but all I know about the kids we drafted is what I’ve read on the net or heard on radio. A bloke that kicked 10 in a GF is a pretty handy get for a pick 11 though I would have thought. I’ve read he isn’t quick which is probably why he lasted to 11. I just hope we picked a couple of players that are quick and have good skills at AFL level. Time will tell.

i'll be the tony shaw of the team then, former great, captain and coach, most games played but now is reduced to making statements about players of his old club and talking as if "if i were still in charge......" or "i was starting to go ok until eddie came and ......."

i'll be happy with that role in this club!

but i dont have 2 nephews in the team, if DTM is the rhyce shaw of the team then maybe i can hang shi* on him all day until he leaves the club!

what do you think DTM?? u ok with that?
