Certainly not the year to win the spoon.
Doesn't really matter for interstate clubs as to where they finish.

State based drafts means teams can win it and get pick 2 in their state!
So for Sydney, it just means they get the pick ahead of GWS.

Crows can win it and get pick 2 in their state.....
Cats have their own zone....so where they finish doesn't matter.

Until the state based drafting goes, the finishing position is largely irrelevant (except for Vic Metro teams).

This is a season we really don't want to lose players. Draft picks value is going to be significantly reduced.
With 32 players on the squad currently (including long term injuries), we will need to make space. Plus, I believe there is a rule that clubs must have at least three spots for the draft? Add Bonnici and Davey, they might need to cut five and try to redraft some to make up the 30.

We arent ready for her to retire, so I'm glad she isn't thinking of those lines. I can't think of anyone that we have that would play her role. We need to start preparing though. Find a young key back

We haven't offered the AFLW memberships as a separate item for that long have we?

That’s true we haven’t. Especially before covid it was free

So really 2021 onwards

Geelong's zone was abolished, there is just one Vic pool now.

For those that don't pay for www.heraldsun.com.au, I presume this is covering the same topic.

Wonder what colour sides with two just club colours with one being white will adopt? If the netball away is any guide I’d guess grey for us. Perhaps there’s an opportunity to link the different colour to a charity though?

AFLW clubs will from next season have an additional set of coloured shorts that are different from their standard home uniform.

The AFLW has settled on the time period for the 2023 season, as well as announcing a uniform change for next season. Plus, check out the top three in every B&F across the competition.

Spring looks set to be the home of AFLW again next year, with the league viewing the change of timing as a success despite a few headwinds.

Two seasons of AFLW were played this year after the decision was made to move the competition away from summer.

There were fears the growing competition would have lost momentum had it waited 18 months between seasons to make the spring switch next year, which aimed to provide a little more clear air.

AFLW general manager Nicole Livingstone said last month that it had “been a phenomenal year for women’s football”, adding that “the future is really bright for the women”.

The most recent season was the first in which all 18 AFL clubs were represented in the women’s competition.

The exact structure of the 2023 AFLW season will be guided by a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which is still being worked through between the AFL and the AFL Players Association (AFLPA).

The AFLPA is awaiting financial forecasts from the AFL before determining its position for negotiations.

The association is hoping to do a joint CBA for its men’s and women’s players, with both groups being without a current agreement for next year.

Outgoing AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan has delayed his departure until next April, with a new CBA being one of his key priorities over coming months.

THE AFLPA agreed to a one-season CBA for its most recent campaign, which began on the last weekend of August and concluded with a November 27 Grand Final.

The home-and-away season was kept at 10 games, but an extra week of finals was added.

List sizes remained at 30 players, but average salaries increased 94 per cent.
The AFLPA has voiced its hopes that AFLW players will become “full time footballers by 2026”, with the last CBA considered a “first step” towards that.
A new CBA – which now looks unlikely to be ticked off before Christmas – will determine the length of the season, list sizes and player wages.

Melbourne tasted premiership success in season seven of the AFLW last month, scoring a four-point win over Brisbane at the Lions’ new Springfield home base.

sorry for the intrusion but Tannah Hurst signed for your VFLW Team from Darebin/northern knights 🙂

Played with her in u18s she is an absolute bull off of HB, always has eyes for the ball and makes it hers.

She’s a great addition 👍🏻

Oh nice, thanks for the info. Always good to have new additions who can make an impact, feels like our VFLW teams needs a bit of something to get better.

No worries - I was pretty excited to potentially play with her in Darebins VFLW team but sad to hear she left.

I also heard that the VFLW as a whole are trying to get more under 22s

Great to hear about the new signings. Are there any sources for any more players that have signed for Collingwood's VFLW?
