Major Announcement from North Melbourne at 10.30 today

A couple of minutes ago on the Sunrise show they mentioned that NMFC were holding a media conference at 10.30 this morning to make a major announcement.

I wonder what it could be...

Option 1 - Nathan Buckley appointed as coach

Option 2 - Simmo announces his retirement

Option 3 - Bucks to coach, Simmo announces his retirement and that he will be an assistant under Bucks.

I can't see a "major announcement" being anything else than one of those three.

Why would North announce Simmos retirement today, on THE day we have given to Buckley for an answer? Surely any announcement on his retirement would be better off being done on any other day.

In another thread I posted an article that Simmo is looking to retire right after the Carlton game this week. He does not feel comfortable going after Arch's record, although I suspect the way his body feels would have a lot to do with it.

A true North champ Simmo is.

I am hoping its only Watt retiring.
But I doubt it and it would be a good opportunity for Simmo to get a small bit of experience in the box as an assistant. :(

Looks like Simpson to retire.

Congratulations on a great career.
One of the unsung heroes of a side which remained competitive in the face of many on and off-field troubles.

Hope he gets a great send off.:thumbsu:

Put all your money down on a Carlton win if this is true then. We're soft as butter in send-off games for club champions.

Bloody shame if he retires now.
Absolute champ and ornament to the game (pay attention S Lane).
I would have been happy for him to play on.
Let's hope this is not a repeat of recent other send-off games...
