Why keep making the same mistakes expecting different results? He’s not cut out for it. He’s done. Both of them. The writings on the wall. You don’t recruit 3 x leaders on all lines if we are content with who captains and lead the club.

So what message does it send to young leaders like Larkey and Sheezel if we bring in a player who has 2 years left at most as make him captain??

You cant fault either of Larkey or Sheezels effort over the last couple of years.

If im Sheezel i would blow up if Parker becomes captain. Real slap in the face of his development.

Put him in the leadership group, for sure, but hes not captain. He isnt Chris Judd.

Simpkin stand alone in 2025, then Sheezel from 2026 onwards for the next decade.

Im fairly certain the leadership group asked for it. Simpkin needs to be removed from leadership altogether

I don’t like the co-captains thing and the two we’ve had have shown nothing of leading a team when they desperately needed it.

I actually think the "co-captain" thing would make it harder for either of the two to stand up as a hard-nosed decisive leader. One captain, even if not a great player can be a good hard leader but often, when the leadership is not clear cut, the two can be second guessing each other or worse, there can be cliques within the team who look to one, but not the other as their captain.

Absolutely. Have never liked the idea. Just make Simpkin sole captain next year, I think he'll have more on-field support to perform better. We're just keeping the spot warm for Sheezel anyway so you don't want to change things too much.

Who gives AF what thread it's in? I'm sick of losing and having the two worst captains in the league is a big part of that. McDonald is nowhere near good enough to be playing and Jy isn't much better, it's embarrassing having these two lead us out every week. Not fair to lob it on X after one good season, Harry's too young and Larkey sooks it up too much.

Xerri doesn’t come across like a captain to be honest, seems to let his actions do the talking.

He's played one good season. He's still learning and I think he'd be better focusing on his footy whilst learning the role as V.C. Alot of people undervaluing what it means and takes to captain a side, it can be a massive burden. Fortunately we'll have plenty of options in 2+ years. Right now we have very few and thats why we're in the position we're in.
