Today MM officially surpassed Sheeds as the king of the recycled draft pick. To be fair if Sheeds was still coaching the Bombers would have Ben on their list next year.

Anyway, will taking Leigh Brown cost him his job next year?

Will the media start hounding him and scrutinise his record if things don't go well?

Will Eddie lose confidence in him?

How do Pie fans feel after taking 101 KPP types over the past few years and now topping up with a recycled hack?

Clement, Medhurst, Wakelin ring a bell?

Our strategy is actually quite smart, we loaded up on talls (which take longer to develop) and are now stockpiling midfielders to round out the list.

All whilst picking best available, whilst the Dons have 'reached' clammering for a new full back to replace Dustbin and play on the oppositions 4th most dangerous forward

Malthouse has never developed a list into Premiership material. Yes Collingwood made two Grand Finals but most will say that they were never really going to challenge Brisbane. (Cue cries of "But we only lost by two goals!"). How he still has a job is beyond me.

So by your own admission, they did challenge Brisbane...

The strategy of MM has been going for 10 years for no result. How many more years do you give this strategy a go?

It's not working. At least Sheeds made it work once or twice but tried it one too many times and got the flick.

Surely you must be miffed at the selection of Leigh Brown.

How he still has a job is beyond you?

Well ask every football fan out there who they'd rather have as their coach between Knights and Malthouse, and you'll get a reality check and maybe realise you know nothing about footy

We had to take Brown unfortunately, but he wont play if Presti is fit. MM's contract ends at the end of this season (im pretty sure) so i have a feeling it will be his last year (unless a miracle occurs), then bucks will take over straight away.:D

People were saying the same sort of shit about Stuart Dew and Alistair Clarkson this time last year.
Pull your heads in Essendon supporters, and there is no reason to get bitter simply because both Sidebottom and Beams WERE Essendon supporters.:thumbsu:

Does he have to ask EVERY football fan? That would take ages!

People can bring out the negative recycling stories from the Pies, however my club has picked up more then it's fair share of recycled garbage in the past few years, so I have no real recourse to bag the pies (IE Saddington, Brett Johnson, Digby Morrell, Steph O'Reiley etc EEK)

However he did take a gamble on Shane Wakelin and that was successful, and managed to fleece Freo and got two AA's in James Clement and Paul Medhurst, and got good service out of Brodie Holland.

I don't think many other clubs could say they picked up 2 discards and managed to turn them into All-Australians, so Malthouse does deserve a lot of credit there.

Given it was pick 73 I don't think it matters. Malthouse has done a wonderful job with what he's had. The slightest knowledge of football would tell anyone, even the silliest, that.

This time last year Hawthorn were widely tipped to challenge Geelong for the flag. Dew was a gun player at Port and also had premiership experience. Brown has always been a dud player.

To compare Brown to Dew or Collingwood to Hawthorn is mere stupidity.

BTW LOL @ Essendon fans bagging Collingwood for recycling players ..

Do the names Ty Zantuck, Scott Camporeale, Justin Murphy, Matthew Allan, etc ring a bell in recent times ?

Comparing a 1 year rookie coach to a 24 year veteran coach is almost as stupid as comparing Leigh Brown to Stuart Dew in terms of their value as a recycled player.

Did you read the OP at all? He acknowledged that Sheedy was the king of topping up.

Does this mean we are not entitiled to have an opinion on other clubs just because a former coach drafted some recycled players? BigFooty never ceases to amaze me.

I think that some of you Essendon fans have gone a bit O/T and it's now started to indulge in a slanging match as to who is the better match day coach now between Malthouse and Knights ..

Uh, the Collingw09d supporter was the one that attacked Knights first. This thread was about Matlhouse's recycling of players and they took offence.

Campo, Murphy and Allan played great football throughout their careers.

Brown is a dud. So was Chris Bryan, Andrew Williams, Chad Morrison, Steinfort, Cummings, Brodie Holland.

There's a big difference between drafting good players who might have a few years left then drafting proven duds who you think you can turn around.

Dew also hadn't played in a year, and there were reports he had love affairs for McDonald's (probably still does). You can say anything to show how the situations were different, but you're ignorant as you don't realise that the ideas are the same. Dew was older as well.

Hawthorn was not widely tipped to challenge Geelong for the flag, they weren't even second favourites ffs. Do your research before you start slagging other teams' draft choices mate, you're sounding like parrot.

Hawthorn had a team on the up.
Collingwood has an incredibly average team.

Different scenarios. Cue "lol Esendon's shit"
