hollyloveswce - just been flicking through this thread as per late night boredem, and read through the past few pages - i'm sure it's all been said and heard before, and i don't have any experience with drugs nor alcohol so i really don't know, but don't forget that, although your father's made a number of decisions which have impacted upon you and your family, it is up to you how you let it affect your life. in its own way, it can have a positive impact - learn from the mistakes of others, even someone as close as your own father, and apply it to your own life. i'm sure that any kid who withstands those sorts of goings on in their childhood can only prosper once they begin to reach an age where the world opens up to them. sounds like you're pretty levelheaded. good luck :thumbsu:

Whereas the young girl has not been influenced by an apparent drug addicted parent to follow the no control weak path proves the point precisely.

After a great sleep, going for an hour run then ready for another productive day at work.

Will try and squeeze in a 30 second appointment with the Daytripper at rehab.

There's nothing wrong with smoking a joint at night like Rooface does, no different from having a couple beers or a cigarette.

I know a bloke in his early 30's who has smoked a joint every night for nearly 15 years. This bloke is fit, switched on, and runs a very successful business.

All you do-gooders have been brainwashed by the government/media.

As opposed to formulating opinions based on one individual that has smoked for 15 years?

My advice? I'm a she:)

I agree that it is selfish as a parent to use it. It is a drug and just as any other drug it is dangerous! Why else would it be illegal?

Do you know why it was made illegal in the first place?

Why has there never been a single death from weed if it is so dangerous like you claim?

Why is Medical MJ legal in over half the states in US if it is so dangerous?

Also the biggest funders in the US for the keep-weed-illegal campaign are some of the biggest alcohol/cigarettes and pharmaceutical companies, what does that say to you?

There is a massive difference between bush weed grown outdoors and hydroponic stuff that has been sprayed with bucket loads of chemicals. A lot of kids are looking for weed that sparkles and smells like lavender. A lot of dealers spray their weed with household shit to give the kids that smoke it a little bit of an extra high so that they keep coming back. The shit people smoke is not natural.

I agree though, if it was legalised and regulated, they could keep it safe and limit the impact it is having on kids` brains. If it was legalised the cops could get out and solve some murders or something and the massive investment on the war on drugs could be spent elsewhere. People aren`t going to stop smoking it, and a lot of people wont admit that it is bad for you until it is too late.

Politics.

Mind altering drug with no medicinal qualities.

That is terribly simplistic. Only today I read in the paper of two young people who killed a teenager whilst under the influence of cannabis and alcohol. There are stories like that every day. What about the number of suicides caused by marijuana use. Psychotic episodes.

I guarantee you that if you walked into a Victorian jail at least 25% of the inmates would have been habitual marijuana smokers at the timje of their offence. And they are not in jail for just smoking pot either.

Marijuana's Active Ingredient Shown to Inhibit Primary Marker of Alzheimer's Disease
http://www.scripps.edu/news/press/080906.html

The active ingredient in marijuana cuts tumor growth in common lung cancer in half and significantly reduces the ability of the cancer to spread, say researchers at Harvard University who tested the chemical in both lab and mouse studies.

AIDS patients suffering from debilitating nerve pain got as much or more relief by smoking marijuana as they would typically get from prescription drugs -- and with fewer side effects -- according to a study conducted under rigorously controlled conditions with government-grown pot.

Speaking of simplistic. How can you blame the marijuana in this case? Increased suicide risk? People that are suicidal are prone to substance abuse. Hard to show that marijuana caused suicidal feelings, and not that suicidal feelings cased marijuana use.

I agree that Marijuana can cause at the very least temporary psychosis, I've experienced it first hand. The public should certainly be aware of that risk. It still isn't a good argument for banning it.

This is just a completely baseless claim, but I'll play along. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of innmates have tried marijuana, just like I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them were heavy drinkers. You know what, I'll bet at least 90% of innmates regularly had cereal for breakfast as kids.

:O

That's it, cereal causes crime.

1. I was stating why it was initially made illegal. Laws are created at a certain period of time. They aren't reopened and redrafted once a year......

2. Pretending that habitual use of marijuana does not cause suicide or pyschosis is just a case of sticking your head in the sand. Sure it doesn't happen for everyone but it does happen as BBC illustrated and as I am personally aware of too. Now I'm sure all the 20 something pot fanbois are going to say "It won't happen to me" or "I'm fine" or "What about alcohol". You know what. They haven't got a clue.

3. The alcohol v marijuana debate so beloved of pot addicts. Lets make it simple. Not all people drink alcohol to get drunk. You can have a glass of wine with dinner or a stubby of beer after work for example. However everyone who smokes pot smokes to get high. Why else would you do it otherwise.

4. There is a high crime rate associated with those who habituallly abuse marijuana. More and more it is trending towards violent crime. Now whether these people would have drifted into crime anyway is debatable but it does happen and to pretend otherwise is again a case of burying your head in the sand and pretending everything is okay..

Now I couldn't care less if people wanted to smoke cannabis in their own home. If they want to destroy their lives and play russian roulette with their brain cells then thats their problem I guess. Its sad and stupid but its a free country.

We are going to see the results of this 'marijuana generation' in about 10-20 years time and by then it will be too late to help some of them. Their brains will already have been fried.
