I know sod all about this game compared to Smash Bros. What are the control options like? Obviously the Aus version will come with a wheel shell. So obviously you can drive with just the controller on the side as well. Are there any other ways to drive?

Yeah, I think there are 5(?) ways.
Wii-mote
Wii-mote + Nunchuck
Camcube Controller
Classic Controller
And something else i think.

EDIT: I just watched the battle video. From April the 24th onwards for about 3-4 years, I am not leaving the house. Ever.

I just realised that it comes out on the 24th, and the day after is a public holiday (ANZAC day), then the next 2 days are a weekend. 3 days of non-stop play!

After watching some more videos, I think people are going to find a way to drift/boost around the whole track like DS. Maybe not though, it takes a few seconds to work up a boost.

Has anyone pre-ordered it yet?

All they need to do if drifting was a problem is to make it so drifting slows you down a fair bit so you can only use it around tight corners.

Although I don't play online on DS much. Do people use it just around corners or all the time?

I don't think it will be too bad, because from watching the Wii videos, it take 2 or 3 seconds to work up a boost.

Yeah that is pretty exploitable. But I don't/can't play like that since my hands and thumbs are two big I'd get blisters.

Apprently they have cut that down a bit. There are two levels of boost available from a power slide.
It takes longer to get a small boost and even longer for the big one, making it a lot trickier to get any boost, thus making it not as worthwhile so not as attractive an option.

If that makes sense.
