Confirmed Mark Keane - Signs 3 Year Extension [OOC 2028]

Keane had one bag kicked on him for the season and is a top 20 ranked KPD in the league for the entire season. Crows fans insist on that because he played in SA for 7 years and very much understand his limitations at AFL level. Collingwood are trying to upgrade his position for a very clear reason.
It’s nice that your full back can take kick outs and the ball is in the hands of your fullback a lot but the argument isn’t even really directly about Frampton vs Keane, it’s what gave up for Frampton vs what would have to give up for Keane

Frampton for the price we gave up was a fine decision despite what you think he is
Keane is a major flight risk and always will be + he’s only an average player

We all agree Keane is an upgrade of Frampton. It's a question of trade price. I wouldn't offer much. He ran home on us. He probably just ran home on you guys and I don't want to trade anything more than a 3rd because there is a good chance he does it again.

I guess we’ll see how badly Collingwood (the club, not the supporters) wants that defensive reinforcement

We should be expecting a Ratugolea-type price
We all know what happened last time they took a defender from the crows (Frampton) they won the flag....its an omen for them

12-18 you say:

2018
12 Zac Butters = 116 games
13 Isaac Quaynor = 108 games

14 Jackson Hately = 28 games
15 Jordan Clark = 102 games
16 Ned McHenry = 70 games

17 Sam Sturt = 31 games
18 Xavier Duursma = 88 games

2019
12 Kysaigh Pickett = 106 games

13 Will Day = 70 games
14 Miles Bergman = 80 games
15 Cody Weightman = 75 games

16 Cooper Stephens = 7 games
17 Brodie Kemp = 43 games

18 Mitch Georgiades = 66 games

2 draft sample size 10/14 (71% hit rate) have played over 50 games.

I'll take the draft thanks!

Some players who will be available after pick 11 that I rate higher than Keane:
  • Harry Armstrong 195cm KPF
  • Jack Whitlock 200cm KPF
  • Alixzander Tauru 193cm KPD
  • Matt Whitlock 199cm KPF/D
  • Jobe Shannahan 194cm KPF
  • Jonty Faull 195cm KPF
  • Tom Gross 181cm Mid
Go back 5 years. Don't cherry pick your years. Do the average over 5 years, and Ned McHenry is a dud, and will be delisted at the end of the year.

You go back 5 years and do the research yourself.

Also 5 years doesn't tell the real story as:
  • 2022 and 2023 drafts havn't had time to reach 50 games
  • There are covid impacted drafts where the quality of development was impacted
I would rather look at this years draft which is deep. I would rather a top 25 pick (likely to be pushed out to 30-35) this year than Keane.

The cupboard is bare for KPD at Adelaide. Especially with Butts recovering from a lisfranc and injury prone. Keane is a required player for 2025 because of this. I can see Adelaide asking overs (ie an early second rounder), Collingwood saying no thanks we’ll wait a year and that being that. Two factors that could change this:

1. How willing Keane is to play out his contract
2. If any other cheap KPD coverage becomes available on the market for Adelaide

I did, that's why I told you to. Cherry picking the best couple of years you could is just deceiving yourself.
To say you only wanted to look at the great draft years makes you look pretty silly.

No you said "I dare you go through the last 5 years of drafting and look at all the kids between those pick numbers, and see how many of them make it to 50 games."

Last 5 years of drafting:
2023 draft = Maximum of 24 games they could have played so it's irrelevant
2022 draft = Maximum of 48 regular season games + up to 4 post season games so it's irrelevant
2021 draft = covid impacted
2020 draft = covid impacted

2021
12 Josh Sinn = 18 games

13 Ben Hobbs = 47 games
14 Campbell Chesser = 32 games
15 Leek Aleer = 12 games

16 Darcy Wilmot = 52 games
17 Tom Brown = 19 games
18 Angus Sheldrick = 9 games

2020
12 Tanner Bruhn = 64 games

13 Tom Powell = 68 games
14 Heath Chapman = 42 games
15 Conor Stone = 13 games

16 Lachie Jones = 53 games
17 Oliver Henry = 68 games

18 Ryan Angwin = 20 games

So I went with 2019 and 2018 draft.

Funny how we all don't want Keane.

I can't remember a player we have all been against maybe Mayne.

Doesn't look so good now does it?
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

He's pretty good, but we need list spots and draft capital. I'll be annoyed if we're not a player in this year's draft.
Crows are confident he wants to stay, so unless he changes his mind in Ireland...

I don't think the Crows are going to have all the ins that have been rumoured.

Crows need to be increasing not reducing depth like last season.
