has been granted bail by a Perth magistrate after being charged over a string of alleged burglaries in which currency was stolen from safes.

Police remanded Pickett in custody on Sunday - a day after he played in the Tigers' 15-point win over Fremantle at Optus Stadium - alleging he was involved in commercial burglaries between December and January.

The 31-year-old appeared in the dock in Perth Magistrates Court on Monday, wearing a black sweatshirt.

He only spoke to confirm his name and was not required to enter pleas.

A police prosecutor told the court the alleged offending by Pickett and others involved a series of commercial burglaries resulting in the theft of more than $380,000 in Australian and foreign currencies from within safes.

Pickett is facing 12 charges including four counts of aggravated burglary, three counts of stealing and three counts of criminal damage.

Prosecutors opposed bail, saying there was a risk Pickett would reoffend if he was released.

Pickett's lawyer David Manera said the prosecution case rested largely on allegations deposits were made into his bank account by his co-offenders and that a camper-van rented in his name was driven interstate by the other men.

Magistrate Erin O'Donnell said the allegations were serious but she was confident Pickett did not present a significant flight risk.

She granted bail on the condition Pickett resides at his address in the Melbourne suburb of Reservoir, reports weekly to a local police station, does not interact with his alleged co-offenders and provides a $50,000 personal surety.

As much as I love Pickett, at 31, with a list refresh, this was the worst thing he could have done for himself.

He would have lost a lot of trust with the club, I assume and with players like Banks, Hugo who can play on the wing, you'd assume that he his career is almost certain to be over as they don't charge without evidence. He's found himself in a stupid situation that he has been in before...

I think at this point, he's got a whole lot of work to do to continue his career, rebuilding trust etc.

Sorry bb that’s a bit over the top and presumptuous. Three years ago I returned back to my family home after 37years and our farm was the drug centre of East Gippsland. I’ve had nothing, but issues fighting crime and getting these people convicted after trying to help some out. They use you , rob from you, discredit you and bring you down even after all you’ve done for them. These people that Pickett may have been associated with in the past are probably doing the same. I had nasty threats made on my family and me and other nasties said to me so let’s just not assume anything as there are a lot of evil criminals out there. I was also blackmailed to try and cover their crimes and cover for them as an alibi. Criminals can get you to try and do anything and will go to all low levels to suck you in and destroy your life.

So sorry to hear this, thoughts with Marlion's family, and Marlion himself, 100% innocent until proven not to be.

Hope he has said nothing to the police, that we have got him a lawyer, that we will post his bail, and can hopefully get him the heck out of WA and back Tigerland.

Wrap our arms around, and deal with the allegations as they come.

Can't remember how we went about things with Andy Krakouer before the allegations against him were proven...?

Maybe. However, the presumption of innocence is how our system works. Until proven guilty he has my support. It’s not like the cops have never got it wrong before.

If he was stone cold guilty then his manager would have released a statement saying ‘It’s a matter before the courts and we have no comment to make at this time’. The fact he included that Pickett intends to defend himself tells me this is going to have many layers to it and won’t be a case of Pickett simply robbing joints with his criminal mates.

Probably a case of someone taking advantage of Pickett’s recent wealth, and/or Pickett being overly trusting and generous to old mates on hard times, and in attempts to retrieve Ill-gotten gains it has turned pear shaped.

It’s highly unlikely Pickett has done nothing wrong, but there’s sure to be complexity in whatever situation has arisen. Other than his 2-minute heroics against GWS his footy has been pretty ordinary for most of this season and this probably explains it.
