On that analysis you would not be a big fan of gabriel garcia marquez! Of course it is a miracle. You would be better off calling the birth of a child miraculous than a "dead nun curing someone of cancer"

it's a miracle! praise god! :D

Brother, i contend that we have totally swapped roles. Now you are the rationalist, I quote scripture:

The Tao doesn't take sides;
it gives birth to both good and evil.
The Master doesn't take sides;
she welcomes both saints and sinners.

The Tao is like a bellows:
it is empty yet infinitely capable.
The more you use it, the more it produces;
the more you talk of it, the less you understand.

Hold on to the center.

How very Aristotelian of you Evo, to post this. Personally, I've often revelled in the knowledge that people consider me 'the mean'.

The thing which concerns me more than any other about eastern philosophies is their insistence on the use of the word 'master', when referring to their teachers. If you enquire about their use of this word, its adherents invariably say, "You're so pre-occupied with words, and that's all 'master' is."

I say, "What method are you using to talk to me? Is what you are saying rendered meaningless because you are reduced to using words, a method you so despise?"

Edit: I'm not having a 'go' at you. Well, maybe a little bit.

these adherents you speak of clearly didn't understand MASTER :)D) Chuang's words:

Speech is not mere breath. It is differentiated by meaning. Take away that, and you cannot say whether it is speech. Could you even distinguish it from the chirping of young birds?

compare this with W's ladder:

The fish trap exists because of the fish. Once you've gotten the fish you can forget the trap. The rabbit snare exists because of the rabbit. Once you've gotten the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words exist because of meaning. Once you've gotten the meaning, you can forget the words. Where can I find a man who has forgotten words so I can talk with him?

This thread is a really sad indictment on society as a whole, when people cannot take their bias agenda away for a second and acknowledge some good news and even offer small amounts of respect to a fellow human being who devoted their life to others less fortunate.

Bitter and twister is all I can say. But I guess lame cheap shots on an internet forum is about all some people are good for these days..

Don't expect enlightenment on an internet forum, you need to travel just a tad further for those answers, even then you may or may not get any. Thats life.

This is good news, a person has been acknowledged by helping those in need, simple really. It's made people happy, it's given some people hope, it's achieved its goal.

Totally agree, but we just can't help but wonder why there is the need to come up with the stuff about curing the cancer from beyond the grave, as if all the good things she did while alive weren't enough. It was all over the telly, hence we're aware of it, hence we comment, and the discussion is always about the point of difference, which in this case is the 'miracles'.

I look at it as the Faiths internal version of the Legends Status as it is to the AFL.
It's an acknowledgement and celebration of the recipients deeds for the organisation.

The criteria for inclusion are set in both instances by the organisations involved and both use intangible, subjective opinions to back up the decision.

No problem with it until someone imposes the decision on me as a burden or denies my right to my own opinion.

"Hi, I have just come into this thread just to point out how I don't like that this thread exists."
