That time of the week once more guys with round 7 on us. The top 5 teams have a bit of a break on the rest of the sides and at this stage of the year it looks as though it could be down to a 6-7 horse race for the top5 five unless the others get thier skates on and string a few wins together.

Avoca v Royal Park - Very impressive start to the season for the "Doggies". They really have expanded on their forward options which is making big scores more frequent than previous years. The evergreen Julian Field is in great nick too which would have the forwards licking their lips. Royal Park got a bit of a lessobn last week and will be hoping that the new guys can start to gell a little more and turn pressure into scores. Avoca should boost the percentage this week with a big win.

Maldon v Dunolly - A good start to the year for the Dons proving a few people wrong. They were expected to maybe drop a little with key departures but the young hard nuts have followed in the footsteps of the Burchell's and Carrolls' and really impressed. Dunolly would be a bit flat after loosing to the in form Creek but a win this week would get them back on track. Both teams are very hard at it so it should be a tough match, but Maldon just.

Creek v Brook - Creek passed their first real test of the season last week accounting for Dunolly which would fill them full of confidence. The midfield seems the key to the side with Peake, Hodoros etc in fine form. Carisbrook are just ticking along nicely and would fancy thier chances this week. The old firm of Hurse, Lloyd etc just taking care of business, and should put the first black mark against the Creekers for the season with a big win.

Rovers v Talbot - Rovers are really hitting their straps at the moment, the tall running attack lead by Sellers and Hedger are really setting the platform for the team. Talbot are struggling to get going but good performances from Martin and Bright give them some hope. Rovers should account for them pretty easily this week.

Newstead v Trentham - Massive game this weekend for both sides! Trentham have been really competitive this week but are yet to have a win for their troubles; the word around is that once they click they are going to cause a bit of havoc and take some good scalps. Newstead on the other hand have had a very flat start to the year, wins against Dunolly and Maldon followed by 2 losses and a draw to Harcourt last week have the Kangaroo faithfull a bit confused and eager to see that breakout game. Last week should sting the guys into action, and with Tom Reece getting on the end of some ball from Ford, Kerr and co Newstead should win at home in a close one.

Good luck to your team.

Pretty much the same Thermo, but I reckon, just this once, that I'll tip Creek over Carisbrook. Dunno why, but maybe I'd just like to see it! On Bushy news, after what appears to be a fallout at Dunolly on the weekend, I have been informed by the Pres that Trev Ronke has signed a clearance to come on board. Certainly won't stop 30 goals but will certainly be very handy, when he comes back from injury that is. Slow steps, but think we will get there in the end, with the two's being very competitive we can only go one way ^^^

Not a bad call, I went down and watched most of the game today and the Creek boys were very good, leading at half time, but poor third term.

Carisbrook were inaccurate but Creek had a couple of better players quiet and a couple out of the side.

Matty Hodoras fast becoming a competition gun.

With a fairly good draw, Creek would have to be very good odds to make the 5 now.

Emphatic win by the Steaders yesterday in a match that they were a little worried about. With the improvement in Trentham and the boys being a little bit off the boil in the first month or so it was good to see them click. Also with a few guys starting to filter back into the side they should only get better from here.

Also is there any truth to the rumors that 2 of Dunolly's big guns have defected to Royal Park? I hear that Sanders and Ronke will be donning the yellow sash this season?

This being the case you would suggest that Dunolly with only 2 wins and people leaving are all but gone for the season and its out of the current top 5 and Newstead for finals??

It should start to take a bit of shape in the next few weeks with the majority of the top 6 to play one another over the next month or so.

ive been reading over the past few months all the threads on here and am baffled by all the hype surrounding trentham, went and watched them on the weekend and i see absolutely no improvement.
they seem to be the same old side, arguing amongst themselves, and i really dont see any hope for the future.
there has been a lot of comment regarding the massive payments that some of their players are getting, from what i saw i would be embarressed to put my hand out and ask for money after sundays performance, and from what i have seen on the scoreboard they really are not close to anywhere near the expectation of their supporters, and will not be at all this season, i cant see them winning anymore than two or three games and that may be insulting the likes of royal park and talbot.
So i ask why all the hype???

Maybe winning the preseason round robin that they staged ,may have given a not so accurate picture of where they were. not sure of how the sides who played in it are travelling at this stage of the season, but maybe the field wasn't that strong.still ,i've watched a few of their games this year and they have been competitive for most of them, just lack the polish and experience of some of the better performing clubs.

It would appear that they lack a bit of size and structure but they do have acouple of real quality players. Saying that i dont think any of their players would be worth big coin but they are coming from melbourne which can inflate price. What is happening at Dunolly. Across all footy sides it appears that the wheels have fallen off. Have the 3 tiwi islanders gone home as rumoured and what about Ronke, Why is he going to another struggling club

and what about Ronke, Why is he going to another struggling club

To play with his mates which is what country footy is all about. He was only out at Dunolly this year as his old man was coaching the 2's, as soon as his dad got the sack (not sure of the reasons behind that) he put the clearance papers in. Will be a great addition to the side and goes to show that having a good culture at the club will attract quality people.

Will Ronke be kitted out and in the side for this weeks game with Newstead? Is it true that Royal Park have signed Sanders also?

Trev won't be playing possibly til we play Trentham, has something wrong with his hand. Will be good to see him out there as he is a very good player. As for Sanders, I was talking to Jez last week and he's had Ronke ring him a few times to come over as well. As much as we'd like to see him come over, it may not happen. He has an expected child on the way so that is more important than footy.

Sometimes I wonder about the mentality of people who post on this site. It is easy to stand on the outside and throw dirt, try getting really involved with a club and put in the hard yards with the players and committee. Yes its true that the saints haven't won a game yet this season but they have been competitive in all of their games and even on Sunday against last years premiers they showed glimpses of very good footy They got beaten by ninety points but last time Trentham played Newstead the Steaders won by over thirty goals. I can tell you that the committee and supporters are more than happy with the recruits we have got this year. Each and every one of these players has gone out of his way to be a real member of the club mixing in well with the Under 17s Reserves, Committee and supporters How many times have you heard about recruits coming to a club playing the game getting their money and going home. Not this group, they are part of the club and the club loves them and knows that they are doing their best and a win is not far away.

Fair comment and having watched them on weekend i can vouch for the fact that they seem happy playing together

Harcourt better be on their A game tomorrow agianst trentham, I think the boys at trentham have something to prove to everyone in the league and this weekend is there big chance, harcourt shouldn't take this game easy or this could change there whole season if they lose.

Are my boys Talbot any danger of registering a win any time soon? Wont be this weekend against Avoca.

Rich, I said to my old man during the week that Bushy were looking for Talbot and Harcourt for our wins this year and in his words "That's the first time we've been looking for our only wins over those two" Sad to see but I guess that's the cycle you have to go through at times. Hopefully our cycle can go full circle in the next few years!

I was at the Trenm /Harcourt game. Harcourt definately won by around the 100 point mark.

Big apologies to Trenm's Timmy White. Apparently he is being accused of being the "EVIL DWARF" by quite a few at the club. I am definately not him,and for anyone knowing him ,he wouldn't be on here pointing out positive/negative things about his club.

So once i work out how to change my alias on here i will do so.

Once again my apologies to Tim,unfortunately i didn't think when selecting my alias on here.Hope no damage has been done.

Cheers

Going to be a very interesting end to the year.

I think Avoca, Carisbrook and Newstead are almost set in stone for the top 3 but as for 4th and 5th its hard to pick.

Got a feeling Rovers missed a big opportunity yesterday as the could have nearly assured themselves of a finals birth and it would have put Dunolly out of the finals race!

Your post made me think about the make up of the 5 "Egor", and looking ahead to the next month and it is going to really start to take shape! Considering that the current top 6 have a bit of a break on the rest i have only taken them into account (that is not to say someone may bolt from the blue), but have a look at the road ahead for the top 6 teams.

1. Avoca (32) - Dunolly, Carisbrook, Creek, Maldon
2. Carisbrook (32) - Rovers, Avoca, Newstead, Harcourt
3. Creek (28) - Maldon, Rovers, Avoca, Newstead
4. Rovers (24) - Carisbrook, Creek, Maldon, BYE
5. Maldon (24) - Creek, BYE, Rovers, Avoca
6. Newstead (22) - Talbot, BYE, Carisbrook, Creek

Should have a better idea of the make up of the 5 after that 4 weeks.

I think it will look more like

1. Avoca
2. Carisbrook
3. Newstead
4. Rovers
5. Maldon
6. Creek

Any thoughts?
