Been very quiet on the Big Footy of late! I think the lack of insight into clearances is really effecting the discussion! Sick of hearing about websites... who really cares.... you can still show all the info you need to. Just one of those things.

Anyway I might try and generate some discussion!

I hear the other day that Shane Field has rejected Avoca's advances and is staying with Stawell. What happened there as I heard he was a sure thing around the new year? I hear D.Clark still hasn't committed anywhere yet and has at some stage told both Avoca and Rovers he will be suiting up.

Have noticed Bushy and Dunolly are training on the hockey fields on similar nights and that Bushy is out drawing Dunolly at training! One up for the tigers early. What are Dunolly's expectations do we think? Can they play finals? I think it will be a tough year for Dunolly and they will need to get their best side on the park each week in order to play finals. Lack of depth could still hurt them. Who are their confirmed recruits? McNamee, Stewart, Dan Schupan I even heard the other day.

Very quiet out of Brook. Chippa back to Clunes is that right? Weatherly has committed at Clunes so I was told over the weekend. Pity he didn't fall into our league somewhere. Surely Brook have a few recruits on the go.

Harcourt have lost plenty to Marong including Stone and Bell and would appear to be due for a slide. Maldon have also lost a few with I know Lea at least comfirmed at Strathfieldsaye. They would struggle to reproduce the same as last year you would think.

Is Maryborough going to have an 18s side?? Not many at training the few times I have driven past.

Whos their coach? Trentham have a lot of work to do this season to just maintain their improvement last year I think.

Shane Thompson ex Western jets assistant coach, so i have been told.
rumoured to be bringing a few players up who weren't drafted.i reckon they need to pick up a few more mature aged ,bigger bodied players ,to compliment their skillfull but young list. Also have been rumoured that peter (polly) palmer is assistant coach. Not sure if he's playing ,as he would have to be early 40s now.

more info as i come across it . cheers

Good to see you are still on our back. Picking on the little guys again. For that we will keep the recruits a little closer to our chest for now. Especially the one from Talbot:D

Chipper has committed to Canada for 2009.

Brook are training in Ballarat the same night Dunolly is and they have all their handy Ballarat based players at training by the looks of things.

word off the streets dunolly are a big chance to play finals.. with james mcnamee and jeremy saunders leadin the charge... with the few new players they have managed to sign to put amongst there talented young list it will be an exciting time for Dunolly

why would ex western jets players want to go to trenam? they must realllly like that coach to follow him round like that?

or they see it as an opportunity to get drafted, as it seems AFL scouts have been trolling the land of the spud for potential recruits. might be an option for up and coming players from other clubs to come out to Trenm, as they, AFL scouts, are obviously looking there or planting future guns there away from prying eyes.

Thought the scouts did a great job keeping prying eyes away, took them ages to find a club NO ONE went to watch.:D :D :p

must've been cause of the snow. I know of a few teams in the mcdfl who have tried to have games moved from Trenm cause of the possibility of snow.:p

question..have many players in recent years been drafted out of the mcdfl.?
and if so what kind of reimbursement (if any)does the club recieve from the AFL?

Troy Chaplin (Rovers), Jeremy Humm (R/Park) & the young bloke from Trentham are the three most recent ones. There is still some sort of reward that goes to the original club from the AFL but it has gone down a bit I think in the last few years.

Time will tell.

I wouldn't write any team off at this point of the year.

Its not the AFL, plenty of teams can be written off at this time of year in country footy! However I haven't written Dunolly off and have never said anything along those lines.

Richie Clark is the only senior player I can think of that I believe we are losing. No other senior player that played last year will be playing at Dunolly..... so time will not tell on that one.

HaHaHa!!! :D

No player with any serious aspirations of playing AFL will go to Trentham lets be honest!
