Very true, What ever were they thinking?.thank god for that eyesore!!
Have heard a few Newstead boys heading back to their junior club at Glenroy in the EDFL. (Adam Bardan, Robbert Haddock, Peter Haddock & Robert Whitford)
2 Questions - what effect will it have on Newsted and secondly what type of players are they ?
Heard a whisper David Clarke has left rovers and signed with Avoca. Can anyone confirm this?
You can throw Maryborough into that group also so that is a total of 5 clubs. Would have to be a record! What will that be now then?
Carisbrook, Talbot, Rovers then Avoca.
Talked to Bushy last year...
Avoca have signed a kid Morley from Ballarat goes alright to I hear.

If true, Rovers would have to be very disappointed in him, considering he has only given them one season and sources inside the club are believed to have been told by Clark that he wanted to finish his playing days there.

How are the 08 premiers recruiting Crank, i would expect a few new signings to be announced very soon. Any players not going around again?
Talbot has appointed Charlie Smyth/Smithie??? as senior coach for 09.
Sam Allbutt has also confirmed he will suit up in 09 again after returning from Queensland which is good news.
Who is coaching Newstead?
heard all the news about recruits and stuff.
but havent heard who is coaching.
hope its still Rick Taylor as he made the steaders show great improvement throughout the year.
are the youngsters in Reece, Culvenor and Chapman staying round?
I haven't heard much actually out of Brook. Doing things quietly. There would have to be a few not going round again that would call it quits I would think. Not sure.
any history on smyth rich? cos he's not a talbot boy is he? and yeh, sammy allbutt would be a great return as well. looks like everyone is full steam ahead for 2009! actually, any news outta rovers yet? how do we think Hooper and Palmer will go?
King he is a massive man who has a tendency to get a bit angry when he crosses the white line. He would have to be about 40 now, has kicked many goals at a lot of clubs. Not sure how he will go as a non playing coach in regards to communication skills.I dont know anything about him mate. He lives in Bendigo. Never been at Talbot. Has played at Charlton and assistant coach at Lockington and White Hills I think.
Will be non-playing unless he gets itchy feet.
Rick Taylor is once again Newstead coach for 2009 Figjam, and Matt Taylor (who's career has ended due to a hip operation sadly) has been appointed as the new assistant coach for the season.
As for the three boys you mentioned, they are on board and as keen as mustard for next year...
bushy had their first hit out tonight, had 25 train with a few watching on. some new faces that we hope will hang around. bout 15 older supporters were up to watch as well which was great. had a barbie and beer to finish off as well. Ash Davidson was very happy, some of those new boys have committed for next year which is great. Watch this space....

i've heard that Aaron Carr has been training out at Brook and is keen to play out there. And also that snowy walker is leaving brook
Disappointing to hear that Maryborough FC is ringing around the better kids from the District League to try and entice them to play with their Under 18 team.
And are also using the ploy of telling them that they will not be noticed by the AFL scouts at district league level.
Which of course is a total untruth, as the junior development interleague games that the district kids play in during the season is where the development officers pick out the stand out kids for the Rebels/Pioneers, etc.
So for Maryborough FC to tell the kids otherwise is very ordinary on their part.
District League clubs put a lot of time and effort into developing their juniors, so that they can eventually play senior footy with their home club, or play Major League, or play at the highest level if good enough.
I have no probs with Maryborough FC recruiting players from the District league to play senior footy, as most players will return to their home club sometime in the future as a better player because of the experience they receive at Major League level.
But I do have a problem with them trying to entice the better players away to play kids footy.
What do other people think?
THE LEAGUE has given permission for the following players to train with AFL clubs, as at Monday, December 8.
Additions from the list published on Tuesday, November 25 are underlined.
Adelaide: Ricky Henderson (Trentham)
I think scouts will pop up in the strangest places.
I expect that this would indicate a scout has been to atleast 1 MCDFL game.
