Apparently Creeks new stratergy is to throw huge money everywhere and if you believe their followers Peake is confirmed as Ass Coach, Pilcher from Strath is signed, Lachy Ford is a probable and they are still throwing huge coin at Castlemaine and other local footballers. Big question is have they got it or are they speculating in the hope of signing a couple. Their coach is going all out for success no matter what and maybe he is forgeting the loyal players and young kids who have stuck with them.
Seems at best a short term approach that may bring some success but may also break club. If Lachy ford where to go back i would imagine Newstead would be very much p**sed off in the player himself given the bond all the players are supposed to have made.

I dont mind Creek having a go like this. I think there will still be plenty of spots for club servants and kids as they dont have massive numbers in both grades. They need to get their club and running and it might mean they shell out a bit in the first few years to get that winning culture back. Like I have said numerous times, it is very hard to recruit when your club doesn't win any games!

I agree K.R. They need to do something or they will fold permanently. The scuttlebutt is they have plenty of money so it is probably time to bring some blokes in and build a decent team.

I just think its easy to pot them for spending money. Good luck to them if they have it. If I was involved with Creek then I would spend it too. Its obvious that they cant put together a decent team with locals etc and plenty of their ex-locals dont want to return whilst they arent winning games. They are in a no win situation.

IMO they have to spend to kick-start their club. As long as they spend wisely and sustainably and bring in good people then its the right way to go. Hopefully the leadership group there know what they are doing as its a potentially very precarious time for that club over the next 2-3 years.

Ex locals like Ford would be the first people Id ring. You know their character and ability and if it costs you a little bit of money to get them back on the scene then so be it!

Mate I think you should send in your resume to coach man you will be back before the start of the year and looking for some form of a challenge. What I have heard this week Dunolly looking at Byron Pickett!! Wow Avoca trying to get Feery, Nick Coghlan, Tommy Veale and Big Fields Back hmmm go with their locals maybe tapner aswell also hughesy may have sime contacts to come with him. Thats Avoca done. Lets talk about Rovars My mate ray Bramley is a bit disapionted with them they have such ag good gaol to gaol list why cant they deliever they should be so much better is it the coach.

'Sacked' is probably the wrong word mate. Not offered the job again is probably more appropriate.

thanks for clearing that up Rich! But as kendoll did rightly say, 16th of this month we will all know. Not even I, the one and only Uncle Johnny know! But so the president tells me, we should be happy.

It's good to be back, dunno if I missed Big Footy or not, but I guess it really is silly season now, so I may make my first silly season prediction and say Royal Park - Richmond double in 2010!!

The pup talk last night has Bazz Gorman coaching Bushy!!

We will have to see how close that prediction is to the truth. It is very much silly season at the moment thou as previously stated. And the footy stories are coming thick and fast, some obviously crap but no dought some will be true. keep the crap coming thou it makes for great reading.:thumbsu:

I had a dig at one of my teachers today about Bushy telling there coach of last year they were no longer required. Her reply to this was "Well i hear that one of the Ex carisbrook boys are going to be appointed". Putting 2 and 2 together i personally believe that Bazz Gorman will be coaching Bushy Next year!

I see on the Newstead website that they have reappointed Rick Taylor and from what i hear, regardless of the rumours that maineman is trying to start that all of their players have indicated they are back again next year.

No rumour starting here, just repeating what I have been told and I hear that it is done and dusted that Lachy Ford will be at Creek next year and that a few of the younger blokes are considering coming to Castlemaine.

Good luck to Newstead if it is wrong, but that is the word I am hearing.

You are full of it. Yes Lachy Ford may go to Creek,Castlemaine, Hepburn or stay at Newstead, but i would doubt any young blokes would go to Castlemaine given their own problems particularly as they have no coach and alot of their so called big name applicants have vanished.

No one would sign up to a club that has no coach!

so who are the few younger blokes considering the move to castlemaine mate?
if you know the stuff, throw out some names!?

i do have inside news though, that Maryborough have been contacting a lot of the junior boys coming out of the U/17's from this league, trying to get them to head in and try and start up their 18's again.
doubt that many of the boys from outside the maryborough region would be interested.

I believe it must be the coaching staff at rovers had a very successful under17's team in 2008 and playing alot of juniors this year. for ray who would be 1 of the best centre half backs in the league why would he want to say. They do look to have a successfull team on paper but no performance on field over the last 2 years.

Also word is carisbrooks junior team have been asked to play under18's along with rovers, talbot avoca. Big signs for maryborough i hear Luke treacy, jake bucknall, Nathan Wright. apparently brook approached brendon hedger and the hoopers have gone to maryborough
Just heard some whispers can anyone confirm??
Also what is the ox doin next year? going around again?

Cheers

Spoke with Campbells Creek coach today, he said Ford is as good as signed, looks like they might be getting his cousin who is a handy player as well. So with there pick ups so far look for Creek to be the big improver next year.
Also heard that the Melbourne boys are leaving Newstead, that will leave a big hole to fill, lets see what happens.:)

From all reports big ox is going around again and most of the melbourne boys with the exception of 1 or 2 and as for Lachie Ford, why would he leave a side who has just won a premiership to go and play with a bunch of battlers at campbells creek.

just heard that lach ford has 110% signed wit creek, not quite sure what he was thinking since just under a month ago he won a premiership wit da stead.cant imagine that the steader boys or commitee would be happy with him leaving since all the signs were really positive about him staying after the grany.

As good as Lachy ford was this season (keeping in mind he only finished 6th or something in Newsteads B&F) it will take a lot more than him and his cousin to take them from second last to top 5 - As Newstead showed this season its not your top couple of players that win you flags, its your bottom few that make the difference - Avoca were case and point in the season, great top few but less depth.

Who travelled up from Melbourne for Newstead, and who of them are leaving? Any more news on any of Christmas, Obrien etc??

i give all the luck to Creek for next year and beyond, but doesn't this happen there year after year? If so, should be another belter of a year

Creek could make their way into the 5 no doubt. The 2009 grand finalists were 7th and 8th on last year's ladder. Sometimes it just takes one quality player to put pen to paper and it gets the ball rolling.
