GOOD on you Rich, Shermo and Talbot boys.
Might have been only a 14-point win, boys, but as Jock Clark 1 always says: "There's no percentage in the finals. All you have to do is win."
And good luck in the Twos for the first semi against Harcourt on Sunday.

Thanks Jockstrap!!

A lot of people are complaining about the standard of the two surfaces on the wkend..... They really weren't too bad. A little hard around the centre but other than that not too bad. When you have to play on Talbots oval all year Princes Park is like a tropical oasis!

Couple of big games in the seniors next wkend!

Harcourt v Brook on Sat and Talbot v Avoca on Sunday

I reckon Harcourt will be too strong for Brook. The game on Sunday will be tight.... obviously I think Talbot will come out on top in the end though. Talbot should be bolstered by the return of a couple of players this weekend..... Any other injuries from the wkends games???

I think brook twos will run all over trentham. The Harcourt/Trentham game was a fairly ordinary standard but you can never right off the apple eaters in any grade. Should account for brook easily in the ones.

Agreed. Trentham will be found out against a hard running side. Harcourt played predictable, dumb football against Trentham.

I thought that was supposed to be Harcourt's go, in fact I reckon we've been told all year how Trentham two's are going to get run over each week. Football smarts will beat running every time, don't write them off yet.

Trentham have exceeded my expectations but I still dont believe they will make the Grand Final. GF will be Brook v Harcourt or Talbot. Harcourt had a few out when they played Trentham last week. Matt Hull in for a start will make a big difference.

I'm not in to I told you so's, but I told you so. There is a reason why these young blokes are playing in the magoos and fair enough they can run, but what's running if you keep coughing the ball up to the opposition? And consider that Trentham have a lot of players that played some good footy, know where to run and when to run and more importantly, the old blokes skill level hasn't diminished over the years. Good luck to Trentham in the Grand Final.

I've been trying to tell them for weeks but would they listen????

A weeks rest for the old fellows will be just the tonic for the old legs.
Some of these guys were rippers in the RDFL a few years back and stated earlier you can't beat experience this time of year. Can someone let us know who was best for Trentham??

The best were as follows; KEITH PELHAM, ANDREW VANCE, ROBERT BEARE, ADAM WILLIAMS, JOHN TADD, SAMUAL DURHAM

Hope that's helpful. Talking to Bob last night and couldn't wipe the smile off his face.

I think it is fantastic that Trentham 2's have got their crack at the big one. They have gone about their business very well and have come into the finals with a positive frame of mind. They play to their strengths and that's what finals footy is all about. We will see who is good enough to play them in 2 weeks out of Talbot and Brook.

Wot went wong on Saturday for the brookers? Would like to see them reverse those fortunes this weekend.

If Avoca play four quarters this week like they played the last one yesterday they will be hard to beat!!

You played pretty well yourself Billy.
It was interesting to note that the two eventual winners of last weekend's games came from almost impossible positions during the games to win their way through to the next challenge. It made for exciting viewing.
Talbot played well but it was evident that Avoca's fitness won out in the end.
This was the first football final that any Avoca side has won since it joined the MCDFL some three years back. Let's hope it's the start of bigger and better things in the future.

Pilgrim turned it on in the last quarter. Coghlan got some serious treatment from the botters. Fitness played a massive part as you said Wonker.

Bellenger was a runaway winner on 33 votes. Mark Ramsey runner up on 15.

Reserves was won by Beare from Trentham with Brasser runner up.

Bellenger was a worth winner but the count was tarnished a little, IMO, by some pretty dubious votes given.

Numerous times Trentham and Dunolly players were given votes when they shouldn't have. 3 examples I can recall off the top of my head:

1)Carisbrook v Trentham - A Trentham player was awarded BOG. Now i haven't checked back at the results but I assume his was a 100+ flogging.

2)Talbot v Trentham - A Trentham player was given 2 votes when we beat them by 200+ points.

3)Talbot v Dunolly - Dunolly player got 1 vote and we won by 150+ points.

This is not taking away from Bellenger at all as he was a favourite and a worthy winner but it must surely take the shine off it for him and others when votes like this are being submitted by umpires. I also will add that the umpires are invited every year to attend and never turn up.

Overall was a good night again at the Highland Society. Guest Speaker Dean Rice was a reasonable speaker, meal was ok, beer was cold and there was a good crown turnout.

Just heard Tony Bellenger won the league medal. Congrats. Does anyone else know any other results?

What a great pick up for Avoca.

Maybe Wonker can provide us some information as the rumour is that Tony has refused to sign for a second year. I would have thought with Julian Field coming back and his reported posse of players a flag would be guaranteed.

King. Umpires have sympathy for the true battlers because many of them are/were that sort of sportsperson.

Any tribunal results yet for Whitehead and Wybenga? The league is really fu<king around with these 2 trials.

You would think Bellenger would be silly not to continue on his work from this year into next after the progress they have made this year.

Avoca will be the first to admit that Fieldy is hardly signed, sealed and delivered for next year!

Makes a mockery of the award though IMO. Club B&Fs are always a far truer indication of player performance for the year.

If the count was closer then more questions would be asked. I understand why it happens its just a bone of contention/annoyance for me!
