There is a lot of talk on the Lexton Plains thread about an impending move from Natte into our league. There is no word of this at league level yet? What is everyones thoughts on them coming in?

This weekend presents what appears to be a fantastic round of matches with many close games expected. Two games of great interest will be Talbot V Carisbrook and Royal Park v Creek. Talbot must win if it is to challenge for the flag this year and the other game pits two winless sides together with the loser probably having one hand on the wooden spoon even at this early stage of the year.

Talbot v Carisbrook - Talbot beat Brook twice last season so should go into this game with some confidence. Both sides will be bolstered by some key inclusions so some high quality football should be on offer. Hopefully some of this rain has hit the Talbot oval as it needed it! Talbot by 4 goals

Royal Park v Campbells Creek - Could go either way but you prob have to give it to Royal Park as they are at home. Both sides will be desperate! Park by 5 goals

Trentham v Maldon - Trentham have promised much and have failed to deliver over the last month of football. The break probably came at the right time for them and they will hope to bounce back this week. Maldon are in irresistable from however and should win by 6 goals.

Harcourt v Rovers - A crunch game for Rovers but I think at home Harcourt will be too strong. Harcourt by 8 goals.

Newstead v Avoca - The steaders have played some great football of late without getting the chocolates. Danger game for the Bulldogs but they should be too classy. Avoca by 8 goals.

Bye - Dunolly

Can someone fill me in on the form of Luke Treacy??
Has he reclaimed the form that seen him win the Carisbrook B&F??
Alot of people don't know this, but... he draws his strength from his mane. Alot like Brad Rowe and Greg Anderson used to in their prime.

One snip and he is flawed...

Talbot v C/Brook a full list at Carisbrook is above rest of league and after bye most should be available. Will be close enough but Brook by 4 goals
R/Park v Creek. Wayne Stubbings now coaching Creek and will bring some discipline. If park couldnt win for Egans 350th they wont beat a revamped Creek. Creek by 12 points
Trentham v Maldon. Even allowing for weather conditions Maldon should win this by 10 goals or more
Harcourt v Rovers. A flogging coming up for the overrated rovers.
Newstead v Avoca. With a full list available Newstead will push Avoca, but as stated before havent got the class to win at the moment. Avoca by 3 goals.

Bye - Dunolly
yes KR should be some good games this weekend
Talbot v Carisbrook - I think that talbot will match brook in the middle
and if it stays wet will take some off the run out off the game but talbot is still playing some kids i think and there forwords may be a bit strong
so brook by 2 goals
Royal park v Campbells creek -I think bushy at home should be able to
hold on they have played some good qts before falling away bushy by 3 goals
Trentham v Maldon -Maldon should win this by 8 to 10 even at trentham
Harcout v Rovers - I think that this may be close clarky should give
rovers good supply from the centre but they need to find a forward
so harcourt by 6 goals for me
Newstead v Avoca - Avoca should have some numbers back after 2 weeks off and should pull away with this game to win by 5 goals

rich n guys how did the long weekend break go for ur clubs did the playrs relish the week off Question 4 rich ..... how long has bushy been back playng at hedges s'pose this weeks rain would have helped that oval

the weekend off was good for us at bushy zakster, hopefully ready to have a good crack at breaking the duck this weekend. we played dunolly at home 2 weeks ago. came up well after a bit of rain and watering. soft under foot which was good. doesnt take hedges much to get up and running.

as for tips this weekend.

Brook to be too strong for Talbot.
Bushy to get on the board this week, hopefully in all 3 grades
Trentham wont get within 6 goals of Maldon.
If Rovers get within 10 goals that would be good. Must be looking at whats gone wrong there I think.
Avoca will be too classy for the steaders as well

Seems that this game will be the match of the round. Who do you think will be the key players for each team that will win their team the game. Is there any big inclusions that may sway my decision as to who will win!!!!! This may just be the season defining game for either club.
As for your reports on Natte heading to the MCDFL, it is rumoured that they are very much interested in mergers!!!.Is there a club that could accommodate such a club such as Natte in the MCDFL, and would they be welcomed to the league with open arms, seeing as though it is getting harder each year to find teams and players in order to provide a strong well classed league that is capable of attracting recruits???

If Natte were to come in to the MCDFL where dose every one think they would sit on the ladder given how they are current going in the LPFL?

Mergers would not be on the cards for Natte. You don't fold up after 1 bad year. They are still in the 5. I can't see anyone putting their hand up for the merger. Royal Park is getting better by the week and Dunolly has improved from last year. They would be the only local options for my opinion.

Bushy seem like they are playing some much improved football of late and imo as an outsider will get the points this week for their first win of the year.

The game of the round is Talbot v Carisbrook and I reckon Talbot will get up. The ground has always been a hoodoo for Carisbrook. Talbot apparently played very good footy against a savagely depleted Dunolly.

Talbot gave Dunolly a football lesson last round injuries or not. A blunt reminder that Dunolly although much improved has alot of hard work still to do. Great to see the Eagles rebuilding however. On Talbot v Brook what are the key match-ups to this game?

I think the midfield match-ups will be very interesting. Martin vs Kick/Harris will be particularly interesting. Personally I'd like to see Martin and Kick square off in the middle. Both are very fit and talented footballers.

Otherwise I think both half-back lines are pretty strong. Carisbrook play to their positions very well and provide plenty of run when they are on the attack. Talbot play a similar style in my opinion.

Rich/Sherm, will both of you be lining up in the main game?

Sherman will be playing.... I'll be kicking the dew off the oval..... again! :(

Hows Avoca looking Shamui??

Talbot had great numbers at training last night and everyone is keen. A strong senior line-up was named and if they play well can beat Brook for sure. Talbot's great form of late can be mainly attributed to Tim Bright's work in the ruck IMO. If Brook can negate his influence in the ruck and around the ground they will go a long way to winning this game. If Martin, Smith, Bond etc in the middle for Talbot can get on top early then I expect Talbot to hold sway for the day. Much depends on Bond, Bench and Moriarty up forward converting Talbots chances.

Both on ball brigades are very strong, be a matter of Talbot being able to restrict the Brooks multiple avenues to goal though I would think if they are any chance. Will Nick Robbo be back in the 1s after being dropped for disciplinary reasons last outing??

Nice post Rich. Informative as usual without giving too much away:D

Avoca are shaping up pretty well at the moment. A few key inclusions this week should put us at full strength.

What is the word on Terry?

IS it possible that Rovers may take it right up to Harcourt today? I have a strong feeling that they just might. I would think that D Hedger should dominate in the ruck and with Rovers having the fitness to match the apple eaters it may come down to whether Rovers take the most of their oppurtunities up forward as C Stone always seems to deliver each week for Harcourt. It will be an uphill battle for the Rovers playing away but I reckon this game could be a close one and one that may have been overlooked a little with Talbot and Brook doing battle also today. Good luck to all clubs today.

Not a chance of Rovers getting close to Harcourt. I believe D Hedger is overseas and wont be playing even though i dont think he would influence this result.

Didn't realise Hedger was away. I still believe this may be a close game however although obviously all will be revealed by 5.30 pm today. I'm prepared to eat my words. Is G Kennedy jnr playing or is he injured as I heard during the week?

I hear that rovers stayed with them till the last qtr then run out off leg and that D clark didn't play
and at talbot how many times do you get a drew in both res and seniors martin must be close to the best play in the league after the way he played to day and with tim bright in the N bond talbot looked good and the young kid that kicked the goal in the last min for talbot is he clarkys brother?
he lookeds ok

1 home game in 8 appearances is never much fun for a struggling team. I'd expect them to win comfortably on the weekend.

It must have been a shock to Royal Park to lose, they have shown good form recently or was it the new coach at Campbell's Creek that made the difference.

As I thought Talbot was a good chance and it now makes for a bit more interest in the finals now
