can only assume this is being treated as a glorified training run
Yes...

2. Jake Waterman, 3. Andrew Gaff, 4. Dom Sheed, 6. Elliot Yeo, 7. Zac Langdon, 8. Jack Redden, 9. Nic Naitanui, 11. Tim Kelly, 17. Josh Kennedy, 18. Campbell Chesser, 19. Brady Hough, 20. Tom Blechynden*, 35. Josh Rotham, 36. Connor West, 37. Tom Barrass, 38. Toby McQuilkin*, 40. Callum Jamieson, 41. Hugh Dixon*, 42. Harry Edwards, 43. Tyler Keitel*, 44. Willie Rioli

17 Will Brodie
22 Lloyd Meek
23 Liam Henry
26 Hayden Young
27 Heath Chapman
30 Nathan O’Driscoll
32 Michael Frederick
34 Joel Western

These are the players I am most interested in. Meek dominant, Brodie looking like a Brownlow Medalist at his feet because of it, Henry and O'Driscoll tearing up the wings, Frederick and Western dangerous forward of centre and the combo of Young and Clark bouncing off half back.

Not sure where Chapman will even play.

I look forward to Alex Pearce and Hugh Dixon lined up on each other and Moose mentions that moment at training a few years ago where Ross Lyon was telling Taylin Duman to run off Dixon because he was totally cooked already.

That's pretty much it, looking for signs of the next step up for all these players (whatever that means for each)

Hopefully all our speedsters are given a licence to take some risks...

Clark, Western, Colyer, Freddy, Switta, Henry is some serious speed on the outside. Hopefully we get to see one or more of Rioli, Dixon, Keitel trying to chase some of these guys.

I'm also very interested in seeing whether Wilson has returned in better form than he left us last year.

I must admit, I'm very disappointed not to see Sturt and Erasmus on the team sheet. I wonder if its conditioning/fitness building stuff and whether it means neither is in round 1 contention. Means we're going into the season with the likes of Acres and Banfield being preferred.
Understandable in some ways but disappointing from a fan pov.
Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.
No Tucker (obviously) or Aish either. Definitely not our sexiest team.

Shouldn't people be happy we're playing it safe with Sturt?

Maybe giving the weaker players an opportunity to take a spot in the team. The worst performers of this game get dropped for 2nd match when the b22 players get added.

Weird about Erasmus. Not so with Sturt, he’s only just been playing match sims. Easy does it. No Walker tho?
Walker and Hamling were the two most surprising omissions for me. Both have been in full training, haven't they? Would've thought that with the amount of football Hamling has missed, the scratchie would be a perfect opportunity to ease him back in.
