Ruckman Matthew Kreuzer will wear a helmet against the Swans as he continues to nurse a deep head gash suffered in the loss to Essendon.
"He's got nine stitches so it's just to protect that wound," Carlton football manager Steven Icke said.
"He was wearing it today (Wednesday) to get a feel for it and he'll wear it again on Saturday afternoon."
Gibbs has been cleared of a broken right thumb, but is expected to wear a glove to avoid further damage.
Ratten said young midfielder Dennis Armfield would definitely come in to the side, while Heath Scotland is also a good chance to be recalled.
Andrew Carrazzo is another week away a senior comeback from a broken forearm, despite amassing 41 touches in the VFL at the weekend.

Would that be the deep gash that cost us a vital free kick?

He really needs stop headbutting opposition players' knees like that before it costs us more games.

Pic looks as though someone (probably Carlos) has bitten a giant chunk out of TwitchMan's arse.
Maybe Robbo is trying to get back at Gibbsy for it?

Hmm, a developing story...

This made me lol.

I regards to Krueze, I am still amazed how he did not get a free for head high contact and then was pinged for holding the ball while he was barely conscious. I don't blame results on umpiring decisions but this was a very poor decision.

Anyway, what I loved was a short time later while he was still on the bench and not looking that flash he apparently had to held back from running back onto the ground. I love that out young guys want to get into it that much.

Where will games be played in Melbourne when West Sydney, Gold Coast, Fremantle and Port Adelaide play Melbourne, North Melbourne and The Bullies and they average UNDER 20000 for each of those games????

Well done AFL......where have your strategic 10 year planners been hiding???

the way kreuzer plays, putting his head over the ball at all costs, he's gonna be one ugly looking bloke with a hell of a good reputation by the end of his career.

by the end of his career he might start looking like this, if that is the case!!

That was a complete joke. How the umpire could pay that holding the ball just amazed me. Been a while since a Carlton player has worn a helmet in a game. The obvious one I can think of is Rod Ashman.

harry madden wore one once, lou richards said it was for low flying aircrft...

good old lou, always gave the kiss of death to the opposition when we played in the grand finals when i was a kid. always remember praying lou's kiss of death would go against us cos you couldnt win a flag with him not on your side.

Justin Madden joked about having to wear a helmet.

I think Dean Rice was the last Carlton player to wear a helmet.

Christou was the last Carlton player to expose one.
