Matthew Broadbent - Past Player

Over the last month, he's comfortably been our most reliable player. He's playing the way I expected Hartlett to. Whenever Broadbent has the ball in hand, you expect something good to happen. Good mix of hard running and spread, inside clearance work, physical pressure at the contest, reliable overhead marking and fantastic, direct and long kicking.

Along with Brad Ebert and Ben Jacobs, Broadbent is the player I'm enjoying watching the most at present.

Our second tierers are coming:thumbsu:.

I like Broady's game, but he does not look like he has an elite fitness level to me. Needs to train harder.

He's certainly running games out this year and in fact looks stronger late in matches than early. Compared to his breathless, feeble second halves last year, I'd say his fitness is improving a helluvalot.

Now needs to have a couple of big possession games (30 touches) like Brad Ebert and John McCarthy have done this year, to give him the confidence that he can stay in matches for longer.

His ability to hit the scoreboard (along with Bradbert's) has been a big boost to us.

Our most improved player by a mile. Been really good. Nice to see him kick a few goals.

Yeah I always wanted him to do well, he had it the talent but i was worried last year, this year he's is restoring my faith

Thought he'd have trouble making the side at the start of the year, but if the award for most improved was handed out now he'd just about win it. He's turned into a composed, hard running, goal kicking mid-fielder. A nice of set of attributes.

As it stands so far this year Broady is averaging more disposals and goals per game than a lot of quality players when they were the same age:

Leigh Montagna, Boyd, Chapman, Steve Johnson and Jarred Mcveigh to name a few.

Almost equal ave goals and disposals compared to Scott Thompson

More ave disposals but less goals compared to Ablett

I'm calling it, 2-3 years and he'll be elite. Get the games into him, get him doing the right things on the track and he'll be AA in no time.

You obviously didn't see him last year then! His fitness base has improved one jillion percent. He was one of the guys to participate in the off-season player initiated boot camp too.

Things just happen with this guy, definitely becoming an x-factor for us.

Most contested possessions on the field and still operating at 92% DE. He can play if he is half fit it seems.

A few ago when he was drafted I was listening to an eagles game and the commentators said he's too good for SANFL and his disposal was excellent. Looks like he's getting that confidence.

Maybe all the boys should take up offseason smoking

He has been amazing lately, his performances are building momentum every week.

His current form proves again that a lot of people write off young kids too early. They need at least 3 preseasons and 50 games before execution.

yeah, not all do.

Amen to that brother. always amazes me how some show unwavering faith in certain players that have been around long enough to make an analytical decision on, yet are willing to throw inexperienced kids under the bus.

yeah, not all do.

Yup!
