Re: Matt Maguire

His repeat efforts at every single contest are just awesome to watch. He is one hungry man and i think he is really enjoying his footy at the moment.

Spot on. Just watched the last half against Collingwood again and he was outstanding. On saturday night I watched the game with a Collingwood mate of and he commented on how fit Maguire was looking. He really does look great at the minute and there can be no doubt that he is set for a big career at the Brisbane Lions.

Re: Matt Maguire

I like how smart he plays as well, he always punches when a defender should punch, he plays the percentages, and follows up on his spoils to make sure he doesn't just spoil to a crumber. And the best thing is he does this just on natural ability and want to do it. You don't seem him spoil a ball, then think or weight up if he needs to do anything else, he is already a step towards the ball. His tackling is great and is good in close with the ball on the deck. Banfield and Goose would be my favourite and most important players for the Lions this season.

Would be a fantastic story if he got an AA jumper. Should poll very well in our B&F.

Re: Matt Maguire

The man's a dead set legend. Won't find any saint supporters that don't wish him success. Hopefully its not a serious injury. Get better goose!

Matt Maguire will require scans on his foot during the week, but the coach is confident he'll get the all clear.

Re: Matt Maguire

Vossy's View

“We’re waiting on the results of Matt Maguire’s foot. We initially hoped it wasn’t a break and it doesn’t seem to be that.”

“We just have to check whether it’s just an irritation of a tendon in his foot at the moment - that’s the best case scenario for us at this particular stage. Worst case is, it might be a stress-related injury.”

Matt Maguire's MRI scans revealed he has tendonitis in his left foot which will require him to take a rest period of between 2-4 weeks.

Re: Matt Maguire

It's hammo, but he's reporting hospitlisation, staph and suggestions its our rooms again...

BRISBANE Lions defender Matt Maguire was in hospital on Friday night after being floored by a bug that has raised fears he may be the fourth Lion in 12 months to fall victim to a staph infection.

Re: Matt Maguire

All the best with the recovery Matty, hope we can see you on the field soon. Stupid Lions staff.

Re: Matt Maguire

Problem is if it is something that is local to the Gabba, it isn't the Lions staff at blame, it is something that needs to be looked at by the people running the Gabba. After the last few problems they bombed the place and did everything within their power to help it. Test samples were taken from numerous areas and all came up clean.

Poor Matty....what a dreadful run of luck he has had, and just when things were looking so good again for him...a big get well very soon Matty..

As for the Lions, unfortunately, they are looking more and more incompetant every day!..They give the appearance of not being able to handle anything properly at all in the last few months....or has it always been like this, but we are only just seeing things now for how they are?..

Re: Matt Maguire

For the conspiracy theorists:

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Lions said Maguire was suffering from plantar fasciitis in his left foot which would require a rest period of between 2-4 weeks.

An hour later, the club distributed updated advice that his injury was not plantar fasciitis, but a case of tendonitis.
