I was using the term "we're" figuratively, I wasn't meaning to blame the club for that, I know the review is not their doing. I meant it more along the lines of here we are having another review when the club was supposed to be there next year.

From what I am aware the only reason it's now with SCAP (State Government) for approval is because the Council referred it to them because it didn't want responsibility for making the final decision. Tthe council actually had the ability to make the decision over the application themselves, but they handballed it on to SCAP.

You're rehashing the same arguments, I have answered before about how no one outside of the club has been privy to what the other options were, so trying to ask people to put forward alternate options is pointles exercise. It's a leading question that you know full well that people don't have the answer to it.

You make the point that you understand the complexities and difficulties of trying to get something done in SA, clearly the club didn't hence why we're years behind the original schedule which is exactly my point.

We were originally promised a facility that we would be in by 2025 that was also going to offer a full sized 2nd oval. So we're now in 2024 with not even a sod of earth turned over and a 2nd oval that's the size of an under 6s field, but hey it's all okay because "reasons".

My point was that I am seeing very little that is convicing me that the board know what they're doing and this decision is just further icing on the cake.

As for the political bias, you always keep trying to use it as a shield for any criticsm for him. It's like you're completely unable to accept that people could have anything negative to say about him so in your own mind you rationalise it by teliing yourself that they just don't like him due to politics, which is BS.

Now if you accused me of having a bias against him because of his association with the SANFL then I would say that you're most probably onto something, but the political stuff is just fantasy land stuff.
And you’ve invented some love affair for me with Olsen. You’re a lefty, he’s the ex Liberal Premier, it’s not a stretch to suggest your criticism of him have some political bias, especially when your SANFL criticism is he did his job well.

You know Adelaide. You know there are no magical parcels of land and if there were, you’d be up against developers which we can’t compete with. That’s why Thebby is appealing, it’s already a football oval.

We were promised? Really? Adding some mayo to that. You sound like a little kid who’s looking for someone to blame because Santa didn’t get you the present you wanted.

Well I reckon after the weekends loss, Nicks if he was holding out for a 3rd year quickly put pen to paper especially with a tough month coming up.

Don't see why we didnt at least follow freo and give Nicks an extra year. At least it cuts down the cost on the inevitable sacking.
Here’s hoping there are performance clauses that give us a get out of jail card if he stinks it up this year or next.

Huh ?? ....why would Nicks now be more inclined to have flexible thinking ....surely the best time for that was at the beginning of his coaching tenure ?

Initially people were saying Nicks was too negative / defensive .....now, last year, the best offensive team in the League

Surely he has already evolved & realising his coaching vision, once he got more cattle & experience into them
Well, the best offensive team of the teams who were lucky enough to play West Coast twice at least.

If you say so..

It's not as though it's unexpected.

I think it being expected is why it's extra disappointing.

If it didn't happen, maybe the club is using new thinking? I did happen though, so we're just continuing to sail the mediocre seas

Mmmm ...does 1 extra game against WC, change the view of our offensive gameplay last year ?

And you told us he was teaching the team defence in 2022, I said emptying the forward line and pushing numbers around the ball, putting Dawson down back wasn’t teaching us defence, it was papering over the cracks to minimise the losses and when we became attacking we would struggle.

Well we attacked last year and our defence struggled.

The talk over preseason? We need to improve our defence. Well no shit Sherlock, who could have seen that coming …..

You're on the right and seem to be far more invested in political tribalism, it's not a stretch to suggest that your defence of him has political bias, especially when it's your go to argument.

I've said since day 1 that he's screwed us over a number of times financially in his position with the SANFL and my concern was always that there would be a conflict of interest due to his SANFL legacy. Without rehashing over the same argument I have said many times that the whole Thebarton Oval thing reeks of being somewhat of a gift for the SANFL and does absolutely nothing to quell my concerns.

I've been consistent from the the start that I will be more than happy for Olsen to prove me wrong. I'm still waiting and yes I will admit that my patience is starting to wear a little thin, but am still waiting !!!!

As for that comment about sounding like a kid, no I am just someone that wants more for the club than mediocrity and the continual litany of excuses to justify our failings.

I admit my initial reaction to Olsen joining the club was a negative bias because he was an ex-Liberal with ties to the SANFL. I gave him a go though and dialed back my criticism. In retrospect, I think my knee jerk reaction was on point. He's been disappointing.

Olsen or no Olsen, why do people keep expecting good to come out of a club that has a thoroughly rotten system of governance?

Nothing edible comes out of a filthy kitchen no matter how good the menu looks.

Did you address GameofSloanes posts given his experience in developments? With his background and explanation, your criticisms seem unfounded.

I worried we were destined to get another Chapman and that Olsen would be a tick buried so deep it would be impossible to remove. Other people talked him up and I got shook out of my position. That's on me. I shouldn't have hoped.

You think Olsen has been as bad as Chapman? Seriously?

You think Olsen has been as bad as Chapman? Seriously?

Thing is if he was, and the club had a proper system of governance, he wouldn’t last long.

I don’t know if Olsen’s ultimately the problem but a constitution that makes him and his board completely unmovable is not only a problem, it’s a terminal disease.

Hypothetical question, but one that needs to be put to the club’s executives:

What’s the club going to do if they miss finals this year and next year?

He’ll still be there in 2026 for the last year of his contract?

Really?

You reckon.

We are a club who hasnt played in finals in 6 years.
