I heard a rumore that Matty will be delisted because there are too many players the club wants. Yeah, he should go and make room for more talented players. Just an honest opinion. If we are going to win we need better players like Sydney have cleverly set the example of doing :D

He'd be terribly unlucky but it's a possibility.

I dont think he's one of Terry's favourite players . . . .

Sydney are falling into a massive black hole by the way. They'll be a basket case in the future like us. They keep trading picks for recycled players and while its great now to keep their window open longer its going to really bite them on the arse. Just my opinion.

It is a shame when someone who has supported, with family too, a team as a kid, and then gets to wear the jumper, but just isn't up to it.

His name doesn't seem to be getting thrown about much in the delisting threads (from what I remember), but can't see him surviving the cut if he is out of contract. Like Harts, must have their agents doing some serious promoting for next season.

I don't think White will go, he is only in his early 20's and he is also in his second year, the one thing I love about Whitey is he tries his guts out, he loves the club and you can tell, he will definetly be here next year as we will have enough players gone at the end of the year.

In the firing line are Chris Hyde, Kel Moore, Ray Hall, Kent Kingsley, Andrew Krakouer, Trent Knobel and Greg Tivendale(Been Dropped a few times this year for poor form so it is obvious Terry is no longer taking his shit).

Also Danny Meyer(Who has played less games in 3 years than White has in 2), Jay Schulz, Brent Hartigan will also be trying to keep their spots after pretty poor form from all three this year.

WHITE WILL BE SAFE!

I agree wih you about sydney, But and it is a BIG but the AFL will bail them out with a rule change or extra picks or more money etc etc etc like they have done over the last 30 yrs

RIP Fitzroy they died so theswans could live

There's going to be 8 - 10 players go, and I reckon HBK has pretty much got them right. After a lot of clearing out over the past three years we can't go too crazy or 2008 will be as bad as this year results-wise, and that would be the end of TW and the board (to a lot of peoples delight).

Matty White will have a chance to build up a bit and I think will be safe for another 12 months. Just quietly I get the feeling Chris Hyde will be here in '08 too.

And a question - I haven't seen Coburg at all this year but you all have plenty of faith in Travis Casserley. Two years on the list but hasn't played a game in a team going crap, that's had injury problems and is playing kids at every opportunity - is he safe? And if so, why?

You just answered your own question.

I'd give Matty a big pre-season of gut busting activity, make him follow Foley's lead. Hard work into a young kid can turn things around. Those that have been in the system for a while and continue to show little (Hyde, Krak) are more suspect.

therein lies his problem

the kid is a real trier and is already one of the fittest on the list (very hard runner!) but just cant find the pill... or use it.... Personally i dont think he'll make it bc he has limited ability but he may just make the cut bc there are others who have had a bigger chance and need to be culled first

gotta feeling that this kid is a classic case of get the right players around him and he improves dramatically. As opposed to others that have been in the system foreever, have had enough time to "know" what to do and when to do it and still dont know what to do and when to do it.
We need players who can run down players, this kid can, alot in our team cant. ;)

hope youre right mate...

ATM imo the only role that suits him is a run with role, hes got the tank and speed to go with most midfielders, he was quite decent last year as a small backman but has gone backwards since. Maybe following quality onballers will teach him how to find the pill? Either way Im not expecting much of him so surprise me Matty

dude, he aint Robinson Crusoe if you havent noticed. At least he is a kid, that can be afforded some latitude. We have senior players that are doing the moonwalk this year. ;)

I think the kid will get one more year...

surely the likes of...

Knobel
Hall
Krakouer
Kingsley
Hartigan
Moore

Will be delisted before him, and gaspers retired which makes that 7 players gone.

if i was in charge of the list - i would probably be thinking the same thing/

nothing against whitey, but he just hasn't done anything exceptional to think he can ever become better than a "C" rated player

This bloke has been absolutely slaughtered by TERRIBLE TEWEE how can you perform sitting on the bench lucky to get 10 mins a quarter. Instead of looking after his non performing favourites it's time he looked after some more of the young blokes and give them more game time.....

he looks after the guys who he believes have an exceptional ability, waiting to blossom.

players like tambling, meyer, polo, JON excelled at junior level - and basically earned respect and patience from the coachs.

others have to accept they were lucky to get a gig, and if they want to suceed - they have to work twice as hard as those 1st and 2nd round fella's. not many players from the 70 or so picked ended up being 100 game players - so its not easy.

so i don't agree every player should be given the same time to perform - some come in as under-dogs and don't have time to find their feet. they either perform or fall into oblivion.

so basically, you can be nathan foley - and surprise everyone - or be Marty McGrath - and fffffffffffade away.

They should turn him into a tagger. He has a pretty good fitness base and is quick enough to go with the faster guys, they just need to teach him how to follow them.

i have it on good authority(trust me on that) that matthew was asked to do tagging jobs at coburg for a good six weeks then he was to be brought in the senior team to do that role.
obviously wallace wasn't happy with his work in that area despite some good tagging jobs early and they gave the job to jackson.
i like matthew's`efforts but if he is not rated aheasd of jackson he might be in serious trouble.
