So happy to admit I was WRONG!! Maxy showed more than just centre square work.. Great game from the big fella!! Chance to belt up the Pies rucks next week sans Jolly..

All of you Hale haters have a short memory.. he finished 8th in the B&F last year:cool:
Most of Hale's best games were against sub-par opposition. Against quality teams with good rucks he usually comes up short and is occasionally smashed, much to the team's detriment.

I've seen what Hale has to offer us and it's not world beating by any means. Max deserves his chance to prove he is at least as useful as Hale.

Sounds like big Max played well today. I haven't seen the game yet, so can't comment, but for those of you who did - was this Max's best game for the brown & gold to date?
Yeah you'd have to say so. His tapwork was great and he managed to link up a bit in general play, which was probably most pleasing.

Oh and yeah, I've been a believer in Max ever since he was instrumental in the huge run of wins we had in the second half of 2011.

Some people around here do INDEED have short memories! ;)

Correct and people forget that Hale was recruited as a second ruck/forward and not as a first ruck. I believe part of the thinking was the fact he once kicked 8 goals against Geelong with North (don't we wish he could do this one more time). Rucks are hard to find and develop and he has been a great pick up in the general schem of things.

Was at the game today and hand on heart I can say Max was absolutely fantastic!! When West Coat got their runs on it was no surprise to see Max not in the middle.

As soon as Clarko put him back in the middle, two clearances to Burgoyne which resulted in crucial goals!! Well done big Max, best game by far, and in testing conditions, that I have seen you play! Hope many more like that ahead!!

Beautiful game from Max. The best centre work we have seen in years.
It is time for the doubters to get on board
I was there, Max was a winner . What on earth is the down talk about this ripper ruck man. He does do more than tap , I've seen Max down and dirty on the ground too.He is a true gutsy performer , bloody magnificent to see him running around the grounds at last.

I was pretty strong on Max being number 1 and I still don't think we have seen the full reason why. He has played 3 AFL games in 12 months. he will still get better. He already made more contests yesterday than he did against the Cats and he DOMINATED Dean Cox.
He is hitting some perfect timing if you ask me. Came up against some young rucks and a slightly underdone West (No more underdone than Max has always been though) and got a good hit out. Then faced one of the premier 3 - 4 big men in the comp and had a day out. Now he gets to face the Pies without Jolly and will be able to honethings more whilst getting valuable match practice against a veteran in Hudson. Good work big maxy, keep it up.
