As Jon Ralph has tweeted, we have Dawes and Cloke the week after as well. Thursty better be ready to go.

hmm shouldnt that be dawes cloke and brown.jolly in the ruck.
with hawthorn its roughhead franklin and hale with renouf in the ruck. these two sides structure up differently to us. they actually use two genuine kpfs plus two ruckmen if you want to call brown a ruckman.
us we structure up forward with one kpf and one ruckman.

mcguane out for 2? lucky bastard.
rance got 3 for a petty bump, waite is such a wuss
thank god we'll be getting moore in a couple of weeks
rioli is a plus for us but by god burgoyne is on fire. 3 goals in round 1 and 4 goals this week. id have white shut him down and white has had a good couple of weeks. deledio to do the run with role on hodge. jackson to go on mitchell.

It's time for Grimey to come in after a decent game against sandy

I would play grigga on buddy

goos game for the burgers was better than most here give him credit
Let's face it he was an elevated rookie for 2011 and has the body and speed to match roughy or buddy Thursty is a stick and is not a good match against the hawks

We'd have to bring Thursty, but also 1 of Grimes or Gourdis. Need 2 talls to come in and help Astbury. 3 talls will be required to play on Franklin and Roughead with double teaming on whoever is closest to goal. Can't rely on Thursty to play on Franklin alone and Astbury on Roughead alone or vice versa. Not big or good enough for 2 on 2. Imagine 1 goes down. We're stuffed then. We must bring in 2 talls

2 on Buddy and one on Roughead? So who exactly plays on Hale/Renouf? Newman?

:confused:Another thread masquerading as another feeble excuse for the "Bring in Gourdis" brigade.
Yeah, Gourdis on Buddy ... the guy was flat out trying to stop no names from Sandringham last week!
Wake up!
Didn't conceede a goal to any Sandy player, suggest you take you head out of your arse when you watch games

Hawks will definately challenge the Rioli decision. Nothing to lose, if found guilty one match still.

A love tap that goes on in every game. If he wasn't playing Richmond this week would you say he deserves a week? If answer is still yes then ask yourself, if it was Deledio who got rubbed out for that would you then feel aggrieved?

Should have hit him in the nuts. Or is it just Carlton are bribing the match review panel. Waite, Judd for eye gouging twice and the "i meant to hit McPhee with my elbow but got Pav instead so accidenatl contact".

Whatever the outcome we can all agree the MRP is a f*cked up system.

Astbury gets first crack at Franklin but if hes being mauled, maybe Deledio to Franklin, especially if he starts pushing into the midfield.

Hes definately got the tank and speed to cover him and will be up and about after shutting out goddard last week.

There once was a time not so long ago where Thursfield would have been first choice for any tall forward the opposition threw at us. The question is does he still have it in him? Personally i doubt he is up to it any more. But in saying that, has there ever been a greater opportunity for a player to resurrect his career than this week for Thursty?

If Rioli doesn't play, we may be able to use Mr Versitile - Matt White as a lose defender running into Buddy's space.
He has the courage to fill the space and the speed to cut off leads - A bit left field, but hey with Buddy we're going to have to think outside the square.

We are in trouble this week end. Burgoyne pushing forward is gonna hurt us. ROughy will smash Astbury for strength and in the air. We have nothing that can go with Buddy. The next two weeks are a write off. The only thing i am hoping for is for someone to smash Mitchell (we owe him a couple). Reads as a negative post, but when you look at their list, and their midfielders that are rotating forward, the only thing that will make the game close is a deluge of biblical proportions. Fire away.

I actually thought McGuane was pretty good last week. he pushed Riewoldt upfield where he did no damage. he got 3 goals - including one from a saints player dropping a mark in the goalsquare and one from THAT free kick.

BUt out biggest weakness has always been against good small forwards - so them losing Rioli is a win for us.

I am struggling to find a good match for either Franklin or Roughead - Thursfield gets first go on either, but after that? Astbury? Not likely in current form. Deledio probably is the next best physical bet, but they would just drag him to the goalsquare out of the play and they would take 'neutralise Deledio' as a win. I guess Grimes or Gourdis have to get their shot, but I'm not too confident.

Of course, we could play King as 'bloody bastard back pocket' to, um, niggle a bit.........

The guy (Gourdis) has been shit house all through summer, he will not get a call up I am 100% certain of that.

...so have quite a few players on our list and in our starting 22...

Goo clearly cheeses off a lot of supporters, but his game against Sandy was serviceable (in that he didn't concede any goals).

Thursty's game was meh...Grimes and Goo played much better... more accountable and rebounding.

I just want the 22 to be selected on merit - not on reputation

Has anyone thought about bringing back Brad Miller in defence? I know we're trying to develop our kids but with Rance and now McGuane out for a few weeks it might be time to bring in some experience and another big body.

dont care how many weeks he gets dont think we should b developing a backline with him in it love his toughness but dont think hes quite up ta standard prob time ta bring the goo or post in

There is a possible option. Miller on Roughead!

To be honest, I don't recally Miller's record in the back line when playing for the Dees, but may not have another option against their KPF's.

All that is required from our makeshift defenders is to stick with them like a dog devouring the meatiest of bones!

Ah... mighty tigs, what a constructive little wee wee flat you are, if only your football knowledge matched your weight what genius you would be

I'm not the only one calling it as it is, have a read of peoples match reports from the game, his disposal was atrocious and he has a very long way to go.

I have a feeling Gourdis is becoming the new Andy Collins.

Honestly speaking here, he deserved a lot more for that. 2 weeks (assuming they will take the plea) is definitely lucky. When I seen it I thought instantly 4 weeks. It was simply a horrible thing to do in the position we are in.

If one of our players copped it I would be definitely wanting 5 weeks.

I'm actually a bit p1ssed that he even did it in the first place.

Pretty stupid & not needed. Should know better than that by now.

I agree it was silly RR but I'm not too worried. I see it as an indicator that Hardwick is bringing a more aggressive mindset to our team - a quality that I believe we have lacked badly over the years.

Like Hawthorn before us, we will eventually find the right balance but we're going to step over the line every now and again. I don't think it is any surprise that what I think was on of McGuane's best games for us coincided with him showing some old fashioned ****.
