Mckernan to come home?

McKernan for Teague, I think.

I like Teaguey, but I don't think that he's fitting in under Laidley's gameplan... a move to Carlton could be a win for both player and club.

Got my concerns about Black, though. Was playing great football at Freo, but you've got to wonder about someone who punches on with his own teammate at training.

And his tribunal incidents earlier this year didn't look like someone who had a bit of mongrel - just looked like someone who was out of control.

He then couldn't make it into the Saint's team for the last five games... seems to me like there are a few issues here. Maybe we could turn him around, but I don't want him corrupting our youngsters!!

**** No. 31 give him No. 18. We always said he'll be the next Carey. And this way at least he'll be able to wear the former great one's jumper.
Arch or Stevo might thump him.

Bring Corey McK home - might spell the end for big Sav though. Maybe for Morrell if Teague doesn't suit (Teague did have a dig at Denis early in the season).

No one has yet mentioned the irony of trading Porter for McKernan!

It would be Sav that would go imo - you only have to listen to Laidley talk. He seldom pays out on Porter, and his efforts in the second half of the year have improved. Did he do enough? Probably not, but as was said we don't have enough ruck options at this point. I doubt any of us want to see Petrie spend half the year in the ruck next season.

I love Corey. I was shattered watching the shell of what was a great footballer 2 weeks ago. It made the day less enjoyable watching him fall over, drop marks and get towelled by a bloke he would have massacred a few years back.

Part of me wants him back, even if he only turned the clock back for one big game.

But (don't pretend you didn't know it was coming!!), what would be the point excactly? He is 29, hardly in good touch, and we are not screaming out for a tall forward. We have too many as it is.

Trading to get him with a mind to play him as our no. 1 or 2 ruckman would be lunacy. He was an effective ruckman for a few years, and they were a long time ago.

As rubbish as Porter was for most of the year, I would feel more confident if he was standing in the middle in round 1 next year. Hale into the no.2 role just makes sense, Petrie can be bloody left at CHF and we can finally play Brown at CHB. It fits.

It has to be for Sav.

Maybe we can recruit Deluca next year?...

By all accounts he sounds like a good mobile ruckman, then if we trade Porter,we will have Hale,Mcintosh,Mckernan,Deluca and get Sav and Petrie to help out in the forward line from time to time, depending on who we play to suit Laids game plan..

yeah i reckon bring the ol boy home...imagine...hale/mcintosh in the ruck pushing forward..drew at CHF, corey taking the big marks at FF and jcpayton and motlop crumbing....oh..its almost too good....the shinboner spirit will be stronger than ever....hell we might as well call back wayne ;) haha

#31 for Corey

And

#22 for Hale!!!!!

It is perfect people.

Would love Corey back, sentimental value, leadership, experience.. and away from Pagan, he could kick 50 goals (he managed it at Carlton under Britain) or he could help Porter/Hale ruck.

Go Roos

i'd be interested to see corey under a different coach than pagan, when he played under brittain he won the b&f, and in his last year here and this year at carlton under pagan it just seems to bring out the worst in him. i'm up for bringing him back, but not at a big cost ... one thing about porter is while he doesn't get many stats etc, he's never been afraid to put his body on the line for the team and thats something i admire about him, i'd like to see him get another season

If Corey comes home, I have no doubt he will be our no1 ruckman & will finish top 8 in our B&F. And he would be an excellent back up FF if Rocca's body doesnt hold up.

He wont hold back the progress of Hale or McIntosh, because if they are half as good as everyone is saying they should beat out the likes of Porter & Morrell for senior spots.

Geez McKernan was good too. I'd almost forgotten how good he was that year! It's got me all fired up to get him back even though I know he won't be nearly as good as that...

Heard of this possible trade a few days ago, and it was definaitely McKernan for Porter in a straight swap with a Bourke-type division of McKernan's wages. I reckon it sounds great. Porter had a good last month (for him) but the thing with Porter, is that once he contests a ruck (which he does do spectactularly) that is it until the next ruck contest. Corey offers so much more around the ground. Add to that he is a potential match winner. He is a guy that can come out and kick 8 goals on any given day. can Porter? Remember, he won a B&F just last year. Corey playing at quarter strength is still better than Porter.
While the facts (poor form before he left us, terrible form now) may point to this being a massive gamble, I just don't get the feeling it is. Corey at a new club, new gameplan, new coach, old mates, supporters that love him, realisation of last chance. It would happen. We would get some of the old corey and we would be a vastly improved, finals bound team.
The other thing is this would be a rare win-win trade. corey is of no value to Pagan, but could be to us. Pagan would love Porter back to help them hold their heads above the water.

where does information come from...

I would hate to get my hopes up, only to see him some where else...

I mentioned earlier in the year that I attended training and was speaking to an official who said then that Corey wanted to come back to Nth now that Pagan was his coach again.

Saw some of that game too. It was on during the '96 Olympics so most Ch7 commentators were in Atlanta which is why Rex Hunt and Malcolm Blight were calling the game. One of Carey's all time great games, admittedly against ordinary opposition, and Corey was sensational.
He won't produce that form again but I'd like to see him finish his career at North, as long as he doesn't cost much because my expectations would be low.
