Robbo and Hanley. Hmmmm. Didn't see Hanley coming.

---
The Brisbane Lions have re-signed key trio Pearce Hanley, Stefan Martin and Mitch Robinson in a massive show of faith in the future direction of the footy club.

Vice-Captain Hanley, who was already contracted until the end of 2017, has put pen to paper for an additional two years on top of that, his freakish skills and devastating running game set to light up the Gabba.

Form ruckman Martin – a joint-winner of the this year’s Merrett-Murray Medal with Robinson, Dayne Beams and Dayne Zorko – was contracted to the end of 2016 but has moved early to sign a three-year contract extension on top of that.

Midfielder Robinson, who has been a revelation since joining the Lions from Carlton last season, has signed a two-year deal keeping him at the Lions until the end of 2018.

Happy to see Hanley and Robbo both re-commit.

Can never be disappointed in players wanting to stick around, just a shame no Rich or Mayes but there is time.

No Rich or Mayes? What a let down. Great to see Steph staying on board though.
It's aMayesing that your posts are always Rich with negativity.

Don't understand all the confusion regarding no signings by either Rich or Mayes? Player managers would be comfortable with a wait until a purple patch of form during the season. Rich first year back from an ACL last year should be able to step it up during 2016. Mayes who played 7 less games in his third season compared to his 2nd will also want to take form and consistency to the table during 2016.

And of course the player manages always have the go home/relocation as a fall back... [hey, on a no less than currently earning, thanks]

Wasn't Hanley already contracted through till the end of 2018 anyway in addition to Robinson already having extended his two year deal months ago?

Brilliant signings, absolutely rapt:thumbsu:

...but won't fully relax until Richy signs too. How friendly was he with Redden?

....would hate for him to get in Richy's ear about coming home. (I know, I'm a worry wart!)

I'd say those two are more about PR than about concern surrounding the playing list. 'Hanley - Lion for Life' reads pretty well. Not a bad idea to send a message to youngsters who are unsure.
