SRV is the bollocks. Have you seen this?

Downloaded it off of YouTube n play it regularly. 18 minutes of bliss. The ultimate pro - that soundcheck is better than most concerts.:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Entirely different - who saw backyard legends on the Big Bash last night - Daniel Rich's video of Andrew Symonds getting out to a freak catch. Who was the catcher?

Must say, pretty surprised with the handling of the Dustin Martin issue to date.
No criminal charges apparently. My definition of criminal action must be way off the mark???
If an intoxicated male standing over a female threatening to attach her with a chopstick doesn't warrant some sort of criminal charge then I can only suspect the media was a little liberal with the version of events reported.....

Yes,probably. The witnesses in that situation have no vested interest either way in the future of Dustin Martin.

I thought the lady dropped the case? Assault definitely is a crime.

That's the difference between criminal cases and civil cases. Criminal cases are prosecuted by the Crown against individual(s) and the penalty is usually in the form of imprisonment (if warranted). Civil cases are one party against another, suing for damages, and usually results in compensation with money if successful.

Assault is a charge under criminal law. As mentioned, no physical contact/injury needs to occur. The threat of it alone is adequate to constitute assault.

I heard on a report last night, that the lady didn't want to file an official complaint, so the case was dropped. Seems strange..

The woman is a producer for ch7, have to wonder what went on behind the scenes between AFL and ch7.

...Dusty lives another day.

Or the media completely exaggerated the story because they know anything with dustin Martin on it will sell papers?

Could be wrong but I think the cops can proceed with charges on their own.
They can, but if the chief witness (victim) is unprepared to make a formal statement, it leaves little to prosecute with. That is, a successful prosecution would rely heavily on the victim's version of events and a statement on the impact of the assault.

I expect we'll see a "wet lettuce leaf" approach from the AFL as well, although I would think that even without criminal charges, there would be enough for him to be dealt a sanction.
If he did nothing wrong in the eyes of the AFL, what the hell did he apologise for?

got it in 1 straight to the point sentence leemas.
surely the media is all about getting to the truth, they don't exaggerate/sensationalize/misrepresent and perpetuate a false caricature of a player do they?:)

Police could not find another witness to corroborate the story and when reviewed CCTV footage - became a he said / she said - chance of successful prosecution = nil, case dropped move along nothing to see hear - Dusty hung out to dry in media

Dustin Martin to be banned from eating Asian food for six months.

Also disqualified from eating with chop sticks and knives for 12 months. Put on probation for 6 months with a fork and will transition to a splade during late rehabilitation.

Spork usage to be considered after that if all goes well. Might be allowed a skewer somewhere down the track.

the last bit regarding the training standards just re enforces the view of a few others but still interesting coming from the captain. damian austin:thumbsu:
seems the Lions of past few years were a bit like the early Bears. More interested in having a beer or three and having a good time rather than actually training hard to improve themselves. Let's hope the new coaching panel can create the change that Walls started for the Bears in 1991.

No guts, I think that all of the reports of Vossy and now Leppa being "unpopular with the playing group" are down to them trying to bust this culture, a bit like Wallsy 20 years ago (luckily I don't think we are that bad). For example we have faded out in red time a lot, given up as soon as the opposition kicks a couple of goals on the run, etc. I think Vossy got sacked at the worst possible time just as we were starting to turn the corner on this, but now I think we are making big strides again, I am hoping that something will click and we will improve a fair bit. That's all the opinion of an outsider, I could be completely wrong!
