Think the experienced guys will make a massive difference. End of last year we finally got a few top line mids playingtogether and actually had half a decent target up forward and we jumped from 70 points a game to mat have been close to avg 100 in the last 5 or 6.

Thank **** the club have finally realized that run and gun is the only way to go. The fact is, if you can't score 100 points in post of your games, then you have no chance of "ever" winning a final, let alone a grand final.

As much as i love the run and gun up the highway style of play and could really suit bundy zorks green taylor i can see us just turning it over and over. All good we are scoring 100. But if we turn it over constantly our opponents will score 125. A pritty pessimistic way of looking at it but i guess thats the young team mentality.

Can understand that concern and we will definitely see some cringeworthy turnovers this year but if our midfield can remain injury free this year we will also be treated to the most exciting footy we have seen the Lions play in years as the likes of Rocky, Hanley, Rich, DBeams, Bundy, Zorko, Robinson, Bell and Bastinac gel together and provide precise ball movement and run and carry through the middle of the ground.

Its an exciting prospect isnt it. Hopefully it can come together like that and really make a push next season. For now it may not work every week. But id be happy with every second. Arghhh bring on round 1.

I really need to consolidate my online identities.
Con-solid-ate?

Was passing through Goulburn last week, not sure but if it this merino is "the sheep", then by-geez, golly-gosh he's been feeding on more than bush turkeys over the pre-season!

PS - apologies for the angle, I must have had a Brion moment.

Too true, there will be turnovers and we will pay for them. But at the same time, it has to be that way if we are going to be a team that eventually wins games and wins finals. We can move the ball quickly, or we can move the ball with pinpoint accuracy but probably not both (and very few teams can do that consistently). The one thing that will get us nowhere is moving the ball slowly and inaccurately (which we have done plenty of in the last few years).

To be honest, it is better for our development to score 100 points and lose by 25 than score 60 points and lose by 25. If our patterns and movement are generating scoring opportunities to get us to 100 points regularly the rest will fall into place often enough that we win plenty of games.
