I think that either Leppa is a very good actor or he genuinely thinks he is still in it for the long haul. And not going anywhere. When he speaks he has genuine belief they r heading in the right direction.

I love how Leppa comments on a good question when he gets one. After getting so many shit questions from Andrew Hamilton it must be nice to get a decent question every once and a while.

Leppa seems remarkably at ease with everything going on. You wouldn't know that he is the coach of a team that has won 2 games for the season and coming off 2 massive losses.

Grrr! Is virtually saying all supporters are blithering idiots! Without us, there IS no club!

...and WE more than you Patrick have a right to question or stick up for OUR club if we choose too..

Grrr!

Is there some context for this?

What this public panic has shown — undeniably — about football is that supporters and commentators wearing club-coloured jockstraps on their heads are the last people to whom we should listen.

The future of the leaping, jumping and flying game is not found in banal club theme songs. It can only be assured by independent analysis which identifies failings and opportunities and addresses them with the requisite insight and speed. Cheerleaders need not apply.

If I valued Patrick Smith's opinion (which I don't) I might be bothered to contact him. Still maybe I can send him an invite to the 1966 player reunion at the Brunswick Street Oval next weekend.

Good win to the Brisbane Lions today. Fitzroy has topped off the day by defeating the Premier B ladder leaders this afternoon.

The article says afl must help us get the best coach possible, swell (improve) the football department and get the facility upgrade happening. Says that a pp is not the magic bullet to fix is as draftees can be duds, can get injured or just leave.

I like the logic - teach a man to fish and help him forever. Would happily forgo a pp if they come through with the facilities and improved coaching staff.

Must by missing something cause I like the message in the article.

Coach could be a dud too.

I don't disagree with anything he said, apart from the Fitzroy dig. His writing style isn't good at all though, kind of like a bad Fitzsimons. Makes him look a bit arrogant.

Is he wrong though. Seems to be a pro Brisbane article to me

Definitely wrong in his Fitzroy being extinct comments.
Potentially wrong in that the Lions couldn't use a PP in terms of league equalisation.
Okay with everything else imo.

The Lions stuff is fine. It's the weird, pretentious word salad about the game in general that just had me laughing.

Yeah that's fair enough actually mate!

The first three paragraphs are absolute garbage. Admittedly skimmed them on the first read. No idea why his editor didn't cut them.
