Great for Gaff and Darling. 👍

Ol' Gil getting the circle jerk award for being in charge during arguably one of the worst eras of the game. 🤮

He was better than Demetriou

Can't really fault him too much for the COVD years.
He started off well but let the game become too unequal in the end (academies and restrictions on medical spend favouring vic teams). Stayed far too long and has left a complete vacuum of leadership behind him. The current CEO is almost anonymous (Dillon? I hardly remember his name) and Laura Kane was promoted well above her abilities. It feels like they're just running on inertia.

His legacy is also pretty shaky. AFLW was a great thing to get started but the competition grew too quickly and doesn't seem to work (the bottom teams stay bottom and the top stay top). Everyone seems to be pretending that Tassie isn't happening because no-one has a clue what to do with 19 teams. A strong leader would have cut one of North or Saints on the way out.

His vacuous brother is also a thing unfortunately.

In all the discussions about the 19th team I can’t recall anything about how the fixture will work.

How will the bye be handled? Who’ll get the R1 bye? Who’ll be the ones getting late season byes?

Maybe a fixed formula - like the byes come in reverse ladder order? (Although the premier having a bye R1 would not satisfy the overriding greed for $$$.)

And then how do these byes fit in with the existing mid-season byes and the byes caused by ‘zero round’?

Of course it’s likely the AFL hasn’t really worked it out yet (or are waiting on input from the important vAFL teams).

Debatable. Fundamental rule changes, 50 year MCG deal, "viewer numbers are up" response to every criticism. Guy ruined the game.

It's ironic that Dangerfield is in the press wanting shorter quarters. It was old mate Hocking that limited the rotations, that is putting stress on player's, along with all the other stupid rules.

Game seems pretty good right now ?

"Viewer numbers are up."

Sorry but I'll never accept that the 666 rule and stand rule are positive changes to the game. Dog shit changes made for the wrong reasons.

This dude seems surprised that ginbey is not getting a club sanction.

piss off.
As Keys pointed out, the ZH 'journo' has linked the taking a piss in public as a crime equal to assault.

Talk about drawing a long bow. Seems like another hack bashing WC (Ginbey you major league criminal, should be nicknamed Blofeld) by any means; no matter how tenuous the link.

Old man shouting at clouds. Gee I wish the old days of a bit of journalistic integrity were still around. Right now I'd take just a smidge of journalistic ability, some basic English skills and someone who doesn't treat the audience like a bunch of morons.

B: David Wirrpanda, Darren Glass, Brad Sheppard
HB: Shannon Hurn, Jeremy McGovern, Elliot Yeo
C: Andrew Gaff, Daniel Kerr, Luke Shuey
HF: Andrew Embley, Jack Darling, Jamie Cripps
F: Phil Matera, Josh Kennedy, Mark Le Cras
Foll: Dean Cox, Ben Cousins, Chris Judd
I/C: Nic Naitanui, Matt Priddis, Beau Waters, Adam Hunter
Sub: Michael Braun

Selection is split relatively evenly between the Eagles' two premiership teams this century, with 10 players named from the 2006 team and a further eight from 2018. The midfield combination of Cox, Cousins, Judd and Kerr is among the best the game has ever seen, and all are in starting positions. As a result, Naitanui and Priddis are on the bench, Yeo is selected at half-back where he was an All-Australian in 2017, and Shuey is squeezed to a wing. Competition is fierce in the backline, where Glass, McGovern and Hurn are automatic selections. The underrated Sheppard could play on tall or small opponents, getting the nod over key defenders Tom Barrass and Eric Mackenzie, who are each club champions. Injury restricted Waters to 120 games, but he made a big impact as a 2006 premiership player and adds a tough streak to the backline. Hunter also gets the nod on the bench given his repeated ability to swing forward when needed. Key forward Quinten Lynch misses out in a stacked forward line, while premiership teammate Drew Banfield played 145 of his 265 games in the 90s. Chad Fletcher was pipped by Braun for the sub spot. - Nathan Schmook

Pretty bang on to be fair. Im taking Fletcher over Braun but thats a minor issue. Barrass and E Mac are about even but neither are taking the Glass spot. Jettas period at the club was important but I couldn't pick anyone for him to replace.

Hunter doesn't need to swing forward in that team, he only needed to in the 2006 team.

JK, Lecras and Darling are a proven forward unit when working together, not to mention the others from midfield who kicked a goal a game.

I'd not have picked Hunter for that team.
