Given the choice between another bar and the captain bar, i'd find it a heap easier to go to a suburban bar, where I'm not fighting the crowd of the game played at Telstra dome, or having to pay to park down there.

If there is no game on it costs nothing to park. Supposedly you have to spend $20 to get you free parking but they will always stamp your ticket. Surely you would spend $20 anyway if you are supporting the club. If there is a game on and we play the early game then street parking at the Latrobe Street end is free so you would be there before the crowd.

It's probably called make a small sacrifice for your club instead of taking the easy option. If that is your opinion, fine. My opinion, and I have been there nearly every Foxtel game, is that it is a great venue, the money goes to club and we have a ball. Too bad if you miss out.

My opinion is that only a moron makes an assertion that another poster on this board doesnt support the club financially without knowing that's persons total commitment.

(Three memberships, the cost of another membership in player sponsorship contributions, a polo shirt and a new jumper all bought through the club this calendar year alone. It's far from the biggest contribution any person on here will make this year, but just for the net time you want to pipe up with you opinion you might want to keep that in mind.)

I dont want to go to the Captains Bar to watch the footy. That's my opinion. I live 25K from the city, I actually watch it at a mates house - who is also a player sponsor and member.

Admittedly the couches we sit on weren't purchased from the club...

I dont care if its at the Leversen or at the TD, as long the victorian supporters group forms up and we can get big gatherings to support our club while our games are outside victoria.

Well why all the argument about the Captains Bar versus a pub when you have no intention of going.

The comment about money was made because you said about the costs of parking, it had no reference to you buying memberships or whatever else you do to support the club.

As I said in the earlier post, you are quite entitled to your opinion but the club does provide a good venue for supporters to get together to watch the game. If you don't want to use it that is up to you.

Cheap shot.

I say Captains Bar, money stays at the club aswell.

and yes, the barmairds are easy on the eye.

Hence why we go there before Melbourne Victory matches too ;)

Guys, guys....it's simple. Do both. It's not like some sort of formal function where large numbers are all important. Assuming these are just informal gatherings (AND that the level of interest is there), then there's probably enough supporters on here to accomodate both schools of thought. Those that want to go to the Captains Bar can go there, and those that want to go to the Leveson can do that. On the interstate days, we could claim both as "ours". Then maybe some who don't really care either way will want to check out each venue on separate occasions. Either way, it's no biggie. We're not talking about vast sums of cash here. Just a couple of jokers getting together to consume beer and yell at a TV screen.

After chatting with John Raleigh & 75-77-96-99 , I think this is a must. This would give us a perfect opportunity to communicate together the issues and ideas we have as supporters to help the club out. It allows us to make friendships and watch interstate games as friends and supporters.

We can all collate our ideas and have a spokesperson either raleigh or perko and communicate on SEN or officially to the board to make our feelings heard.

Yeh Raliegh or Perko could be our media men. You know when theres like a competition and you group up and the media is around, maybe we could do that when theres an issue out on our club. Support our club.

We have so many supporters on here with passion and expertise. We should be utilising this resource and turning it into something positive. We can get 20 or 30 people together to strive for the same thing. We just got to get this thing off the ground.

Well you need a plan at first.

Organise it all rooboy_88. You got nothing on you at the moment.

Trouble is, who is going to volounteer to be The Club "Joffa", you know have a difference that makes the media want to show interest???

Maybe we should throw it open for ideas on the club "personality" and cultivate a character.

Remember the old bird from the cheer squad?

Tried to go the Leeveson once to watch footy last year and it was packed with a very young crowd and we were really out of place in our NMFC polos...put it that way! Good for a perv but no footy will be shown there!

Believe it or not, we actually have been to the Collingwood venue in Caroline Springs (The Club) to watch the footy as it was the only viable place....didn't eat or drink there though as we promised ourselves we wouldn't give one cent to those dogs!!

....This is a real problem with North isn't it? The social club is really killing us and the lack of income we make from the venue will really effect our ability to survive here! We, along with Carlton, have the worst social clubs in the league and it is no coincidence we are both struggling financially!!!

Ok. Thats like from one side of Thomastown to the other.

From memory Leveson street runs off Victoria street - about a block before Vic St TRAM turns right and it becomes Errol Street (Near the 3 Bells pub). The Leveson Pub is about half way down on the right hand side of Leveson Street, if u have turned right from - Victoria Street. Doesn't ex Roo from the '70's John Burns run a pub - The Albion (?) On the corner of Errol & Queensberry Sts (i think) maybe worth a try for watching.

Geez anyone reading this would think i used to work in the area and frequent these establishments. YES!

cheers y'all -

Here's a thought - why not share the wealth - one week at The
Captains Bar if the game is on a sunday and if on Sat or Friday at a pub - when watching at a pub there's that incentive to KICK ON if you don't have to get up in the morning to go to work/school.

double cheers

for those wishing to group together and rally for the cause "north melbourne" any consideration of joining existing supporter groups and making them bigger, we all have the same best intentions in mind and talking about what we can do for the club and how after the footy may not be the best time to think clearly.

my opinion anyway, and contact numbers for supporter groups can be found on the web site and the shinboner spirit group could do with some nw faces. we have great dinners, guests , players and past players from the club.

we have raised money for the gps system the team now uses, and you can remain anonomous from your bigfooty identity if you wish.

Do the Shinboner spirit group have like a venue in place where supporters can watch games interstate because if we can do that and also do our bit for the lub, we would be getting the best of both worlds.
