It's not stage lighting.like will they change colours?
Im guessing they wont have a seizure mode like optus has. It's not stage lighting.
They are much more energy efficient. Much longer lifespan. Much less light spill. Instant on and off so no warmup time if turned off for Anzac Eve ceremony or night GF halftime entertainment.
Same as Optus but in tower form.
Im guessing they wont have a seizure mode like optus has.
I don't imagine the light towers will given you can see them all over.Flashing lights after home team goals I imagine.
The new LEDs make such a difference.
The ground is brighter and thats just two light towers and the under roof ones.
Was that goodThe light tower conversation was brought up during the run chase tonight, and the commentators mentioned they didn’t even know the MCG was only running 4/6 towers tonight until Finchy mentioned it.
Perhaps in these days of being energy-conscious, as well as running LEDs not old globes, all games could be done with 4 towers? Are 6 even necessary?
Well there's that too. Given it's a full bowl now.Would they even need towers now? Just fix the lights to the roof of the stands.
Plus it’s also about the character of the ground too.Well there's that too. Given it's a full bowl now.
Only thought is towers aren't dependent on the stands being there - say in the event of a GSS rebuild.
We coulda said that about not demolishing older stands, removing the old scoreboard to Manuka, building the towers to begin withPlus it’s also about the character of the ground too.

Were you having issues? Are you considering those with poor eyesight in your attempt at saving the world?
It's cool how you can see defined bays of lights within the head, as opposed to just one massive glow.
None of the old lights remain. They do make a difference the new ones.
Will all light towers be used in future, or is there no need for all to be running at the same time now?Light towers 3 and 6 have had all their LED lights installed and no.3's lights were being tested the other day
I think all will be used. Will all light towers be used in future, or is there no need for all to be running at the same time now?
Looking forward to it!I think all will be used.
With Crisis comes opportunity.
Is now the time to dig up the surface of the MCG, make it a more multifunctional facility?
Put in other facilities beneath the surface like a Roman Colisseum without the Gladiators and animal cages??
The grass can be a layer over the top of another flexible surface making the facility far more agile and robust as a venue increasing its attractiveness of all forms of entertainment
Depends how many overs per game. Test match...two-fifths of a game in a weekendTheoretically, how many games could the MCG hold each weekend without the pitch suffering badly? I'm wondering where the cut off point is.
