Schmuttt put it best
Let's see how many chick we can bang and how much booze we can scull.
It's all starts at grass root footy.
Footy club culture is shocking.

No way are my kids playing Aussie rules or rugby league
They are in a surf club and boardriders club. Mixed gender sportsclubsSome low level, local clubs can get out of hand if the wrong people are on the committee etc.
But I think you'd be surprised at the extent to which top level clubs focus on culture and group dynamics.
If a player (or group of players) is found to be operating outside of the the club ethos and not manageable, then they will be out pretty quick these days. Even if they are top end talent.
I hope you let your kids play team sports. It's generally a positive learning experience for life's path on so many levels, and they can make great friendships from the experience as well.
Been involved in a few clubs. Can't say they are not boys clubsYeah, cos only boys who play footy think like this.
Alleged victim. Let the law run it's course before we judge.I’m a little shocked by the lack of care shown in here for the victim.
Let’s hope she’s OK, first and foremost.
(This isn’t a dig at a rival club, hopefully we can all see how a crime like this is FAR more important than team colours.)

The victim if it the accusation is true, should be the at the foremost of everyones minds in this thread. Hopefully she is fine and the perpetrator is punished adequately.
Rightly or wrongly i think most Melbourne supporters are just hoping that a star player has not committed this crime if true.
However if a star player has than they should be punished extremely hard

Mate, if whoever it was is found guilty they should be sacked on the spot.
I agree. Pretty much what i said.Mate, if whoever it was is found guilty they should be sacked on the spot.
I can understand a lot of the feedback here...My opinion is still that the primary concern should be to confirm the victim (alleged, female, add other descriptor/caveats as required) is OK rather than the players innocence (which can be worried about later), however can see that I don’t share the popular opinion.
But before I leave, I just wanted to just have a laugh at this quote.
I don’t know if you’d say a Great Dane sneaking into the backyard and getting its head stuck in the cat flap is a ‘complication’. I have seen worse arguments at the MRP though!
Let’s hope the victim is OK, the player is dealt with appropriately (if guilty) and you can all marvel at how awesome Jordy Lewis is again.
Fingers crossed it's a false allegation. If not, that's pretty messed up.
What are the chances it's some Ugly Bob type unit fulfilling his fantasies due to the doors opened by being a new AFL player?

Totally agree with this. I played footy from juniors up until the age of 30 and saw a lot of poor attitudes towards women. Binge drinking was a mandatory requirement. There was a lot of good too but Country football would be well served finding more female club presidents.Another reason why the success of AFLW is so important.
I never really fit into the classic grassroot footy culture because of the problems you mentioned. Moved to a different city for work and joined a club which fields a team in the local women's comp. Culture is much better. Although a lot of grog is still consumed which isn't a problem if nothing else arises from being intoxicated all the time.
If AFLW is a success and more local clubs start fielding women's sides, the culture of grassroots clubs is going to improve.
