Some mates and I are looking to make the week long pilgrimage this year.

According to the Flemington web site some of the prices aren't available yet, but does say you can get a reserved 4 day pass for $380'ish.

Just hoping to get some advice/thoughts from those who have done it before on what is the best way to do the tickets without impacting the drinking and gambling budget too much.

We aren't worried about reserved seating or anything, just want to be in there.

Cheers,
Bob

$380 seems way too much for general admission,Im guessing that would include a reserved seat.

Its all ticketed nowadays but you can get tickets from Flinders St station,
just buy them the previous day so you dont have to queue with the other 5000 waiting.

Cheers for that Seth. I believe that price did include a reserved seat in one of the stands.

Roughly how much would it normally set you back if you went general admission for the 4 days?

I think you can get a full general admission package but its easy enough getting tickets individually for each day. Derby Day though I'd grab it a few days before or so.

Don't get tickets for the Banks - its shit and a waste of money. Reserved seat is good for the 2 minutes you watch the race but not much else.

In terms of location for standing about I reckon the place to be these days is about 400 metres out near where the Makybe Diva statue is. They have more facilities down that way now, and you avoid the congestion up near the finish line where everyone seems to flock to. Its also accesible to the bookies.

I think if you buy a four day ticket from Ticketmaster you basically end up getting Stakes Day for free.

Take that into account, a four day admission package may be a lot cheaper than buying a ticket for each day seperately. Might save ya $30 each...not much but it's a round of drinks!
