you don't think 20,000 is embarassing? the western bulldogs are probably beating us still, but i bet you they've still got a couple up their sleeve which they won't add onto this tally until they've stopped offering them so that they can milk more members and finish in a blaze of glory with a magical 1000 members turning up out of no where

Although it's bitterly disappointing we won't hit 23,000, I think it's huge that we've cracked 20,000. Got really worried there for a while.

If we can hit 21,000 we're over the line on the books as far as budgeting is concerned - the last 2k was a bonus.

As will be beating the Doggies and Melbourne. The thing is with Richmond they don't need members at all - they get on a winning streak and 80 billion Tiger supporters come out of the closet. Their administration would be worried but you know that their gate recepits will keep them right up there.

I reckon 21,000 would be a terrific result considering last years dramas and most of the football world predicting us to come bottom this year.

Hopefully, with the next generation coming through we can build some new stars for people to really get excitied about and jump on board.

Interesting talk this evening on 3AW tonight talking about memberships and the level of $$ they through into a club.
Szondy of Melbourne was reported as saying that Melbourne came to the realisation that they spend 76% of their time chasing memberships that equate to 17% of their revenue. Followed on to say that the corporate dollar was far more important. (cannot remember the exact % but they were something like this) Interesting idea.

While this is most likely true ..

Define "time" as a dollar value.

You have a look at the Roos asking for supporters to help out as well as the players and you realise that 200 man hours actually equates to the cost of coffee and bikkies for supper because its volunteer work or the players who are getting paid anyway.

You can twist figures around any way you want. Did you know that 40% of all weekday sickies are taken on a Monday or a Friday, proving that australians are all bludgers - but if you think about it - how much is that actually saying ? And things that are 97% fat free (oh isn't that good to be eating healthy) It also means that it is 3% PURE LARD

If things arn't going too well, you are hardly going to say "Yeah our membership numbers are cr@p, our onfield performances are cr@p and I think the coach is cr@p"
