Bring back the anchor full time imo. Redesign it but go for the original purple haze guernsey. Redesign that s**t logo too.

We’re the ******* dockers, warfies etc need an Anchor. Solid anchor. Get that paper clip thing and toss it. The chevrons too. Great thing about Stealth is you can barely see them.

Bring back the Anchor, but not the red/geeen.

Some chatter on the main board that we have Port away in round 1.
I'm not saying it's impossible, but if true and we also got given back to back Adelaide games around gather round like last year, we'd play three of our first five games in SA. Holy croweater

Our preseason is meant to be in SA as well

Brisbane at optus round 1.

Sunday twilight March 17th.

First of probably 10 home games in that dead timeslot

Yeah it’s brisbane on Sunday avo at Optus.
We can assume they will be one of our 6 double ups anyway - you can take it to the bank.
Tough start for us against one of the flag favourites at home, we will have a tough away game too in round 2 so nothing east to begin the season

The AFL wants to steal the sporting spotlight in New South Wales and Queensland as part of a blockbuster four-game ‘Opening Round’ to start the 2024 season.
The league will kick-off the new season with four marquee match-ups north of the border between March 7-9 before a full nine-game round 1 the following weekend.
The AFL’s bold northern markets move is part of a plan to “have footy in every home around the country” in early March.
New Sydney Swans’ ruckman Brodie Grundy will be front and centre when he locks horns with his former Melbourne teammates in the first AFL game of the season at the SCG on Thursday, March 7.

Brisbane Lions host Carlton in a repeat of the preliminary final on Friday, March 8 at the Gabba, before new Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick starts a new era for the Suns against his Richmond premiership heroes in a tussle on Saturday, March 9 at Heritage Bank Stadium.
Collingwood will begin its back-to-back premiership campaign against GWS Giants in another highly-anticipated preliminary final rematch on Saturday night at Giants’ Stadium.
Those eight clubs will have a second in-season bye staggered across rounds 2-6 to ensure all clubs are back on an even keel by round 7.
It is hoped the ‘Opening Round’ will help deliver a major boost to the game in Sydney and on the Gold Coast with Victorian fans expected to flock north as part of the Labour Day long weekend.
Excitement will be high when footy returns to Melbourne for round 1 with more than 90,000 fans set to watch Richmond and Carlton clash in the traditional Thursday night blockbuster on March, March 14 at the MCG.
Collingwood will unfurl its premiership flag the following night when the Magpies take on former vice-captain Taylor Adams and Gundy in a clash against a new-look Sydney Swans outfit at the MCG on March 15.
Essendon is tipped to tackle Hawthorn, Geelong will host St Kilda under lights at GMHBA Stadium, and Melbourne will likely confront 2021 grand final rivals Western Bulldogs on a Sunday afternoon at the MCG in round 1.
Following the success of Gather Round in South Australia last year, new chief executive Andrew Dillon said the league wanted to start the season with a bang in the northern markets.
“We were fortunate to be in a position where we were able to have access to our major venues in Queensland and New South Wales a weekend earlier than usual which gave us a unique opportunity to play these four games in key markets where footy continues to grow in popularity,” Dillon said.

“The four match-ups are big, with four of our biggest supported Victorian clubs travelling north, and we look forward to starting our season with real momentum before we head into a blockbuster round of matches in round 1.
“Given this weekend also falls on the Labour Day long weekend in Victoria it presents a terrific opportunity for fans to travel north to support their club and enjoy an extended interstate break.
“We are driven to have footy in every home around the country, whether that be playing, coaching, umpiring, supporting or volunteering and starting the season across Queensland and NSW will only amplify this desire.”
The full fixture will be released on Thursday, and will include Brisbane versus Collingwood on Easter Thursday, a North Melbourne versus Carlton clash on Good Friday, Essendon versus Carlton King’s Birthday Eve game, and a bumper St Kilda home MCG clash against Collingwood in round 2.
Collingwood and Carlton are expected to feature prominently in the prime time Thursday and Friday night slots this year as the rivals and premiership heavyweights look to challenge for the 2024 flag.
Marvel Stadium will be out of action in round 1 due to two midweek Pink concerts.

Not even the real round 1, Brisbane get to play “opening round” to make sure they aren’t rusty heading into their 2nd fixture which is the 17th. * the afl.
Is there anything more stupid then calling it Round Zero.

Like seriously just call it Round 1 or split Round 1 up across the 2 weeks.

Its a bit of joke 8 clubs get a 2nd bye somewhere in the season.

Northern exposure but giving leg up to big vic clubs

What a surprise. Could the AFL be any more contrived? Their pet 4 northern clubs they are desperate to have succeed, plus the 3 big Melbourne clubs. The only misfit might be Melbourne instead of say Hawthorn or Essendon. But "round zero" is basically the AFL's dream final 8.

At least make them all switch around to play amongst each other the next week. Poor form that we have to play Brisbane after they have knocked the rust off.

Just the AFL trying to further americanise the sport. All about the flair and less about the game.

So is it Saturday or Sunday for Brisbane ? Two conflicting reports.
Such shite. It could so easily have been fixtured that every team in round zero plays another one again in round 1 (like Carlton Richmond is, and Collingwood Sydney is), but no let's dial the unfairness knob up to 11 for a couple of teams

It's just pandering to Victorians who will get upset if 'Round 1' isn't played in Melbourne

Haha that's why people laugh in Sydney about AFL.

The AFL try and do things to grab everyone's attention with funky stuff like look at us but instead alienate everyone outside of Vic.

The ability of the governing body to keep everyone in line otherwise you will be punished like a dictatorship.

The Vic mafia media who run the game.

In Sydney the clubs in the Rugby League the clubs don't cop the BS they go squealing to the media the moment they get screwed over. Its why the sport thrives on the soap opera away from the game as much as what happens on it.

The moment a club wants to complain about the AFL you have the Putin's in head office shutting them up before they say boo.

We will know what sort of team we’ll be in 24 after round 1.
While I wish this was true, it simply isn't. If you look at individual games from 2023, you could draw about 5 different conclusions depending on the game chosen. Even in 2022, we scraped past Adelaide in Round 1. Carlton and GWS showed that you can improve significantly over a season. We simply need to find a way to win even when not at our best. Carlton at least had 5.5 wins by R15 before winning their next 5 to jump into the 8. We need consistency across games which will be impossible to tell after R1.

And where does playing round 1 in Los Vegas fall with respect to this??

It would take some pretty serious mental gymnastics to regard the AFL scheduling a split opening round in Sydney and Brisbane as a stupid joke but the ARL turning their competition into a Roy and HG bit as fully serious and legitimate.
