Metallica Nov 2010 tour

I saw 6 shows on this tour, 2 in Perth, 2 in Adelaide and 2 in Melbourne (Missed the last show of the tour as I had to fly home on the Sunday) flipping sensational tour enjoyed all 6 shows!!

Probably a long shot, did anyone here tape any of the Australian shows (video camera)? Even longer shot, I'm looking for any bootleg (video or audio) of the 2 shows in Perth in 1998, or the Perth Big Day Out show in 2004.
I have an extensive metallica bootleg collection for trade. Send me a pm if interested

cheers

Wow dude you're dedicated! I went to both Adelaide shows. How did they compare to Perth and Melbourne in terms of crowd energy? Which gig was the best? I thought night 2 in Adelaide was pretty tame and I was on barrier. Although the set list was better than night 1

I reckon Adelaide and Perth were on a par as far as crowd energy goes, Melbourne was really tame in the GA area.
My favourite show was probably the last one I saw in Melbourne 20th Nov. They played Ride The Lightning, Outlaw Torn, Dyers Eve and Phantom Lord!!

Nope, they kick you out. I had two mates miss half the show because they crowd surfed. Ridiculous decision from security. Never had that happen at any other metal show I've been to.

Sigh.....I remember crowd-surfing.....

At Melbourne, they were taking them out (quite forceably, arm behind and up between the shoulders but once you were out of the area, there was nothing stopping you walking back into the GA area.

Unless your mates actually caused enough of an issue to get kicked out completely (even then you could walk in unchecked pretty much once Metallica had started) then they should have been back in within 10 minutes max.

Nah, just crowd surfing. They got escorted out of the venue. They said there were about 10-15 other blokes outside that had all been kicked out for the same thing.

Clearly some security enforced it, some didn't.

After a bit of research, saw this on the Metclub forums;

Well after my fifth Metallica show on this tour, I thought Id get up and have a crowd surf during Puppets. Escorted out without reason or conversation. Apparantly there is a rule of you crowd surf, you don't get let back in. Just missed out on the last 5 or so songs of the world magnetic tour because secrurity are dicks.

At least I heard Ktulu, Heroes, UIII, Thingy, but still feel cheated.

After following this band for the last what, 15 years, I shelled out a bunch of cash to follow them to Sydney and Adelaide and see them in Melbourne 3 times. Each show was amazing in it's own way, but for SECURITY to end the show for me, the tour for me, and then to have them tell me it's "Metallicas rules, if you crowd surf you're out, they don't want you here, its as simple as that". Man. So pissed off. Was so excited to be a part of the end of the tour that I've followed online for the last 2 years, and followed around the country for the last 2 weeks.

Adelaide, Sydney, dudes crowd surf and just get let back into Gen Admin, and usually crowd surf another 2-3 times. Hell, I even saw this in Melbourne on Thursday night.
But tonight was unreasonable, I wasnt being agressive to security or anything, just explained the situation, and the manager kept saying "Metallicas rules buddy. They don't want you back in". Which is obviously BS.
A 2 second decision to crowd surf (somethign which I have never done) and go crazy at a Metallica show and that ends the night, and tour for me.

There were about another 5-10 die hards out front also sitting on their asses after being kicked out for crowd surfing. It's ironic, the die hard fans than follow the band around and get really into the shows get booted and have to wait out front, while the casuals inside finally hear the 2 songs they know, Nothing and Sandman, after a night of tapping their feet to songs they have never heard like Ktulu, U3, etc...and get to see the boys close off theit 2.5 year tour.,while we're out front pleading to be let back in.

I gotta laugh, so only the die hard fans are the ones that crowd surf and the ones that don't crowd surf aren't die hard fans?

I didn't crowd surf, and I've been a fan of Metallica since the Justice album. I thought that was a harsh statement to make that one, even though I do feel for him, being treated like that by security.

However, this was the original Melbourne show

That being the case, it's likely that a decent portion of those attending had seen Metallica before. Just as the band might not want to play the same tunes over and over, fans don't want the see the same generic songs.

Not good for you, but probably decent for a lot of others. I didn't get any of the ones you mentioned, but having heard all them live before, it was pretty awesome to have that variety.

In fact, I found it hard to get into Harvester of Sorrow as I couldn't help but wish something I hadn't heard before was playing.

Not sure if anyone else is the same, but I continously find it difficult to get into Enter Sandman live. Something to do with all the Black album followers suddenly finding voice I guess.

Orion & No Leaf Clover the highlights for me.

Memory Remains, Unforgiven & as a long shot, Hero of the Day continue to elude me :(

Enjoyed the 3 shows I attended. The September shows for the standard classics and the other 2 for a few of the rarities. Hopefully they don't take another 6 years to come back. If the Aussie $$ stays on parity or close to the US, then I doubt it will be that long. :)

Now just waiting for the Club to send out my Fan Can 6. :) Ordered the BluRay though, so it's on backorder.

I went to the 2nd, 3rd and 5th shows and they absolutely kicked ass! Each time I went, they got better and better and better. What I love about these guys is the variety of their setlist for every gig. Excluding That was your life, MOP, One, Sandman, Sad but True, FTB and Seek and Destroy they did not repeat any song played in those 3 concerts.

Here's hoping they return within less than 6 years. Absolutely worth the mullah I paid compared to the dull and boring U2.

Highlights were Orion and Memory Remains. Lowlights....end of the show :(

Anyone have the Aussie edition live EPs Vol I and II from this tour? If so, what are they like?

I'm fairly certain the first EP is from past tours. Don't know how well the sound will be on those.
I'd hazard a guess that Vol II would just be using the LiveMet recordings that you can download from the site.

Listening to Fade to Black from the last Melbourne show. Sounding awesome.

I was under the impression that Fade to Black was one of the set songs they played each show - I'd cut Nothing Else Matters for it no problem.

Although Nothing Else Matters is a great song, it's akin to so many that should be getting as much attention. I realise why it's one of their set songs, just don't agree with it.

Creeping Death should also be a regular - it's the ultimate live song for fans, more so than Seek & Destroy, which I'd happily cut for it.

Yep, Creep should be a regular. Surprised it only got played at one of the Melbourne shows, very thankful that I was at that show.

Bellz was another one that they only played once, and I didn't manage to get it
