The best and most viable option for all football in Gippsland.

This option won't affect the clubs playing Ellinbank, Mid Gippsland or North Gippsland football and more importantly it won't add significant travel issues for Ellinbank clubs and the northern clubs in Mid Gippsland footy. Having trips to current Alberton clubs would significantly hamper recruitment for clubs in these leagues.

Tarwin's suggestion is the best
WGFNC = Division 1
AFNL = WGFNC Division 2 (6 + TD + WI)

Split the 18 teams into 10-8
Leave MG as it is

Exactly, more money needs to be sourced into the 2 leagues, if that can't sorted than we should see 2 divisions introduced to West Gippsland League with an Alberton Conference and a West Conference.

As for Mid Gippsland you could see them merge with North Gippy and have 2 conferences with a ''East'' and ''West'' conference. Trafalgar / Thorpdale and even Hill End could potentially join Ellinbank League....

All ideas which are better than AFL Gippsland's.

Alberton being a part of the WGFNC has been floated a couple of times on this thread since October last year but, as Cody said, maybe AFL Victoria and AFL Gippsland have finally come to their senses on this issue ...

On reflection from my post last October, I might replace Kilcunda Bass with Tooradin Dalmore in Division 1 seeing as though the Seagulls are doing so well in their new surroundings.

Youve prompted me to look up their points expenditure. 41 out of possible 44 says alot of new faces from out of town. Most recruits dont come cheap these days if they have to travel

What’s with the demise of perennial powerhouses Trafalgar, Yinnar and Newborough? Why has Hill End improved?
Newborough are a bit of a mess really, has been the culmination I think of several years of struggling with juniors meaning a lack of kids coming through (lots of kids who would traditionally being Newborough playing for Moe), and issues at committee level over a few years. Also heard they lost their major sponsor.

Yinnar and Traf I think have just lost a bit of experience with guys moving on for various reasons after being at/near the top for a while. Both still competitive though and fielding relatively young sides. I don't think either were helped in recruiting this year by the mess the league is in. I'd expect both to improve next year.

Hill End has got a lot of money from somewhere. Also apparently got silly amounts of money (hundreds of thousands) in a grant to build new netball facilities.

Looks like it not just evil Mid Gippsland that don't want to take in all the Alberton clubs, West Gippy don't want a bar of it either.

Interesting to note they also want out of the AFLG administration. If there's one thing Mid Gippy definitely did right last year it was avoid that being forced upon it.

Yes.
I reckon take a maximum of one as it will have less effect on the MGFL's clubs and eliminate the bye. Plus SCFC are talking adding extra junior sides over the next few years.
Any more than 10 clubs in the league means an unbalanced fixture and too many trips to the deep south for the northern most clubs.

Noticed the names M and L Snell along with P Graves in Mirboo reserves team v Hill End, surely they would have qualified for the Pete Rennie/Steve Rogers school of 'nah I've got a few years left'. years ago.
Also think I noticed Lloyd Mackie's name in a Thorpy team this year.

Top bloke Lloyd, as was Bonnie, but right about his age 55?? Rennie was a handy FF in the ones til it quickly went around the league that there was a reason why he preferred to fly from behind, and then went to back pocket in the magoos where there was no chance of hearing footsteps.

Could be all over for mid gippy. Boolarra boys saying last night traf talking ellinbank at yestys game appear to be very keen. Full club meeting this thursday night. Wouldnt give mid gippy executive a letter of solidarity when asked for one

What didnt any one see this coming????

So Thursday meeting a beat up?
My thoughts have always been Mid Gippy would survive by sticking with the Clubs they have. In saying that if a Club opts out it breaks the resolve , thus creating a situation of last man standing.
Alberton Leaguge is done and dusted and I dare say Mid Gippy maybe in the same boat in the not too distant future.
As I've stated previous, finances, lack of people being prepared to take on everyday running of clubs is fkng clubs

At worst, a union of the either the MGFL and NGFL or else the EGFL and NGFL as a two-division competition if the status quo cannot remain.
It allows the clubs to play at the right standard - right now, competitiveness is just as important as travel.
Statewide, so many clubs seem to be closer to the edge than ever before - even metro powers such as Deer Park struggle with numbers for their reserves side. A hellish season in 2020 could mean more trouble in the current climate than ever before.

Rumour i heard was afl banking on thorpy/gormandale folding & then Yyn, newb & mor east to nth gippy, yinnar,boolarra & mirboo to alberton & traf & hill end to ellinbank. Two 12 team leagues & a 9. Only big winner i see is ellinbank picking up 4 more junior teams
