He plays the sub role quite well, so I'd expect he'll play that in however many finals we play after doing it well for 3 consecutive weeks.

With that in mind, I'd give him the next 2 games in the starting team

I'm with Slutfest on this one.

There is no way that Jed gets anywhere near marking that ball. Not in a million years.

All of the 23 are important.

I mean, Jed laid a match winning tackle to set up the DBJ goal against Hawthorn so he's contributed in a key moment this year whether you like it or not.

Interestingly, Narkle, Evans and Rioli had 16 disposals and 1 goal BETWEEN THEM last night and are receiving rave reviews whilst everyone obsessively sinks the boot into a player who hasn't been picked in the AFL team for 7 weeks.

Would we have been in that position to need a last second game saving tackle if we had a competent small forward in the first place? Perhaps, but probably not.

32 disposals, 7 tackles, 7 marks and 2 goals (all team high stats) for Narkle this week.

Highlights of Narkle's game vs Centrals here.

POWER FORWARD ON HOLD

QUINTON Narkle remains without a contract for 2025, but at least a couple of clubs are monitoring his situation.

Narkle has been told to wait until after the trade period to see if there is a spot for him at Alberton next year.

The West Australian remains a player of interest for clubs across the competition, with some eyeing him as a delisted free agent. – Josh Gabelich

Probably fair that Narkle goes. With SPP back and Richards in, at least one of Evans/McEntee and Narkle had to go.

Just never got going here. Seemed a bit flukey with injuries/suspensions that he played all 3 finals.

I was concerned for him when 7 news said Port would announce more delistings next week and showed video of Narkle.

Mac N Cheese is lucky he has a contract. Losing Narkle is not the worst thing in the world. TBH, it was a strange decision to get him in the MSD when there was a clear deficiency in our key defender stocks which became more exposed towards the end point of the 2023 season especially during finals.

Would have been okay keeping Narkle as depth tbh
There's only like 5 uncontracted players, 1 being Boak. Pretty much all of them have to be gone now. Failing to move Soldo and bringing in Ratkins, is a 2 player swing.

Gone from maybe just K Marshall/Scully, Evans/Narkle and Boak, to possibly all of them.
