Will we leave ourselves short? You know that Blayne Wilson is currently our 5the key defender. That's including Schofield who rarely plays true KPD. I refuse to believe the coaches would ever leave the team in a position to be that low on key defensive players.

How's Wilson been doing?
Schoey's run off HBF would be missed too much if he were plonked at home in D50.

Yuck. Apart from McPharlin who we would have zero chance of netting Brown is comfortably ahead of all those. Even if we take a KPB this year, we would be lucky if they were useful before 2016. We are challenging for a flag now...

Thing is, barring injury, they won't get a game. We just need them as cover for Glass / MacKenzie / Schofield over the next couple of years and they could easily be moved on after that. Who knows how quickly someone drafted will develop? Talia is doing alright.

I can't even believe some people would be against it.

It's essentially a current depth player for a top 5 draft pick.

Talia is in his 3rd year, only played 9 games in his previous 2. I am not against it but I still doubt it will happen.

Top 5 draft pick wont help us win flags now. If we lost Brown. then Glass slows down a bit (with age) and Mackenzie/Schofield get injured, we are boned and in deep trouble when it comes to playing on any team with more than 1 decent tall forward.

So we buy or draft in a ready made backup.

Just because we're in a premiership window, doesn't mean that we shouldn't invest in our future too. If we lose Brown, then i suggest looking around for a mature WAFL/VAFL/SANFL player to bring in. Someone who's well built and that we could bring in to take the third tall. Let's not forget that McInnes can play back too. If we lose Brown then we can look at him to switch down back during the pre season and early WAFL games next year.

so is this another superrrdraft or what?

Was told today GWS are making a big play for Mitch Brown and are prepared to give a minidraft pick to get him.
Looks like they are offering the second minidraft pick for Mitch Brown.
Also Mitch's girlfriend as attracted interest from the sydney swifts netball side, so he could be amenable to a move.
Was told WCE said they would wait to after the finals to negotiate, but ideally wanted to keep Brown.

I think that would be a mistake as we could use Fraser McInnes as a defender, and pick up a Hogan
as a foward replacement, and Hogan looks pretty special.

Would do that trade....But, we'd be mental to not keep developing Fraser as a CHF/FF. In one of the most dysfunctional teams (Perth) I've seen and playing the hardest possie (CHF), some of his games were mouthwatering. A natural forward.

Rather get a mature state league KPD.
